I get where that comes from and it would be really nice, but given that G&L hasn't done it before and there doesn't seem to be enough demand to justify it I agree that it probably won't happen.
I hope not, because I would probably place an instant order for one.
PS If anyone's thinking that

My dream is still to have my SB-1 with RMC, but having owned one for 2 years and a change now, I do agree that a 1.5'' necked SB-1 with a lightweight body is very close to the mark

Everything wide open on the JB/JB-5 is usually pretty sublime. That to me is THE sound of a jazz bass.
I don't have personally have much use for favoring the bridge pickup, but I'm more of P bass guy. So the only thing I'd really change is bringing down the neck pickup to get a fatter, less scooped sound. But that's just me trying to make a J sound more like a P.
Jaco would tell you to lose the neck pickup, turn down the tone knob to taste and run with it.

Hah, I missed the deadline to edit my post, so I edited it in the quote above. I sometimes turn down the BRIDGE pickup to get a fatter, less scooped sound. My fingers were faster than my brain.
That’s also MY favorite sound on my US JB2. (Strung with Labella Low tension flatwounds)
Just getting to know my new-to-me L-1000 which also has the alnico pickup instead of the MFD.
I like that it’s very powerful,clear,warm and full sounding,especially the OMG setting for bass.

I just got my L2000 in Shoreline Gold. (It only took about 4.5 months, but that's another story).
Any favorite pickup/amp/tone settings to get me started are appreciated. It has the K-mod wiring.
I'm also looking for any string recommendations.
I play worship music for pur church. My other bass is a Fender P 5-string.
Congrats. I am partial to the front pickup, single coil, tone about halfway down, bass and volume on full.
Like @RocketMusic, for me it's either both up full, or rolling off the bridge pickup to enter the thick and growly zone. In my experience, five-string J-basses have a slightly thicker native tone than fours, so both pickups on full is a tiny bit less scooped. My empress JB-5 sounds truly outstanding with both up full, and treble adjusted to taste. I found the same thing with my old Fender Jazz V, so much so that I ditched noiseless pickups and went back to the stock singles. (That is, before I ditched the bass in favor of G&Ls!
) On my fours, I always go noiseless. Also helps to have strings that bring the fatness, like the DR Pure Blues on my JB-5.
