i've gotta measure my L2000 again, but i think it's somewhere between 1.5 and 1.625 if that's possible, it's very comfortable and really flat front to back

You gotta tell us how you got them to make you a 4+1 headstock with the extra wide nut.
This bass is MIA and 18 years old (would you believe it?). 4+1 was standard in 1997 for both models: regular and Custom.
I like the Fender-ish shape of the headstock. The neck is very chunky, compared to a #10.
G&L changed to 3+2 by mid-1997, and at the same time they changed serial numbers from Bxxxxxx to CLxxxxx, and narrowed the nut width to 1-13/16". This one is B001080 (registered in the G&L registry at guitarsbyleo.com).
The neck and body are both stamped Jan. 1997. On the heavy side: 10.6 lbs.
I don't know what brand and model the strings are (roundwounds), but I find the B-string is weak in volume, compared to my ex-M-2500 MIA.

I just ordered that same bass from Bass Central. They said it will be 8-12 weeks for delivery.
Really? I’m surprised, I have owned a few G&L American and one Tribute and they have all been the best quality you could expect. Thanks for the heads up;-)
Nice bass. I thought you couldn't get custom neck sizes in 5-strings, though. What's your secret?
I LOVE the sound of L2500s but can't get use to the string spacing…. It's got to be at least 18mm for me, alas.
I played an M2500 in the shop last week and was totally impressed with the playability and B string, but <sigh> I just can't do the string spacing (and I prefer the L2000 electronics).
