Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

Had the 9.0 on the outdoor gig last night UL2-410 and I was just delighted with the sound. Started with the RH450 but switched after 1 song. The organic sweet tone of the 9.0 was awesome and the power is undeniable, plenty of headroom to spare. The more I use this amp the more I like it!

Good to hear!

I've really been hoping that this could be the future head for me. While a LMII user right now, I'm underwhelmed with the new 800 series Markbass amps, I'd like a bit more wattage and the early reports that they're not as warm sounding as the LMII is sort of offputting.

I'd love to feed my fEarful 15/6 at least 450 watts or so. I'm only concerned because I don't think I really want any 'tube grit' or similar tone in my sound. I've done toooobs and could never get them quite clean enough for what I want to hear in my lows.

just back off your gain to stay out of the tube. It has more than enough a$$ to get you out there. I only like the tube grit thing with my Fender basses. I love my Smith's crystal clear

How is the tube inserted in the signal chain? I always thought that it was not defeatable within the circuit.

I just back the preamp gain back and get the volume from back end. If you don't hit the clip/OL light you aren't getting that far in to the tube. Bassicaly run the front end lean and get the beef from the back end

Call me if you want to discuss it more. PM me a phone number

That's how I used to run my ol' mosfet 3500 way back when...I also set up my guitar player's amp (an old Peavey Classic 50 the same way, otherwise it drives fairly easily into crunch).

I also use it this way. I must point out it is a work around though.

Now there is a question. It can get quieter than the bass itself while keeping the fat warm tone. TY for that question...you made my day

I ask because i use a 3.0-10T Combo for church but have got a 9.0 on order. I was wondering whether i could use the 9.0 and one cab for the church gig. The 9.0 has all the same ins out as my combo so if it can be quiet for enough for church i could sell the combo to fund another cab.

in these times of headroom sometimes you just want quiet :p:D

I agree. The mark of a great amp is being able to sound the way you want it to quiet. And then having enough power to knock down walls when you need it with your tone.
