For whatever it's worth. GO PLAY IT. I think the 6.0 sounds more like a perfect blend of tube/FET on the 1200. I love the FET sound of the 1200. I also really love the sound of the 6.0. I have found the semi parametric mid control is the secret knob to get your tone. Either by cutting somethig you don'tlike or boosting something you like you can dial it in. I put the frequency at about 2 oclock and the volume at about 10 oclock and it is big and warm sounding. Just my 2 cents.

Well Guy I misssed the Genz rep by 15 minutes here in Memphis ... they are still not here yet and I was kinda expecting them yesterday :hmm:

And mine is pre-paid for too.


;) ... When they do arrive I'm doing the LM II shootout also ... with a pair of my own speakers ... can't wait!

this one appears to be DOA

the clip light, OL lights stay on after I turn it on. I started with the volume and pre all the way down. I have tried it with both my guitar plugged in and without.

any ideas--this is a big downer--just my luck

I understand.....was really only "funning ya"...no offense I hope. I do it with tubes and speakers as it can get to 10 below zero where I live.

If it is that cold, you are correct in waiting a little bit because of the 12AX7 but that's only if it is Arctic.

I'd do that in a heartbeat--I've had many tube amps, but I don't want to void the warranty. So if one of the Genz guys says go ahead I'd try it. I'll post a picture though. Maybe you can see something from a closeup?


I do notice that there are two thingys that sort of look like handles--the one on the right does not seem to be sitting in the socket correctly.

other than that I didn't see anything unplugged etc

Not the tube, don't bother. Roger will get this sorted out for you and I will get this back for detailed analysis. It's possible that it's just shipping damage, they are pretty small/light and one could take a heck of a fall without visible damage on the box.

On the side of the chassis or the carton? Any dent on the side of the chassis is intriguing indeed. This may be important information in determining what happened. (All) Products are designed to withstand a certain amount of mis-handling, in terms of accelerations cause by a falling product hitting a solid immovable surface. The problem with the small lightweight amps (not just ours) is that they are ligt enough to take a monster fall (like from 10 feet) and if they land flat not leave any marks on the carton but still have trememdous accelerations from coming to a stop within an inch of motion. A heavy product would show really obvious damage.

The computer industry suffered from this, hard disk drives were being destroyed in transit. They used little accelerometers on the pallets to track the handling. This revealed some scary things about the shipping industry.

Unless you're shipping out entire truckloads of 6.0s and 3.0s, then you're shipping what is known as LTL (less than load) or a partial load. An awful lot of LTL stuff doesn't weigh much so sometimes pallets get stacked and that can cause damage.

This can be compounded when using freight companies (Roadway, Yellow, etc.) because some of their dock guys do not care. They are union and couldn't get fired if they shot their supervisors in front of 20 witnesses.

You might be better off using a freight forwarder who puts together partial loads or trucking companies and brokers which specialize in LTL freight. These companies seem to take better care of their freight.

This is my experience after a lot of years running a truck over the road and watching how a lot of different companies handle freight. I'd still put accelerometers/tilt indicators on my pallets.

If someone doesn't care for what I said about union dock workers, I apologize. I'm just relating what I've seen.
