+1. I had the exact same experience not too long ago. The Streamliner loves 8x10s. And I have never gotten more compliments from sound guys about a DI than I have since I started playing a Streamliner. Whatever they did with this one, they did it right.

Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

+1. I had the exact same experience not too long ago. The Streamliner loves 8x10s. And I have never gotten more compliments from sound guys about a DI than I have since I started playing a Streamliner. Whatever they did with this one, they did it right.
I've not gigged my Streamliner with my 810 but may have to try. I always use it with a GB Uber 410 (4 ohm) and turn the tweeter off, gets plenty of punch and old school tube warmth and volume enough to blow your face off if you want it.

Was that recorded with your Brute? I'm waiting for the next version Brutes to arrive. Hoping for late June, early July delivery of my black MJX-5 so I can try it with my Streamliner 900/NX2 212T rig.
Had an attempt at a Skype band rehearsal last night (doesn't work, so they are recording what they want me to learn), but the Streamliner just sounded fantastic as it always has. Gobs of headroom. No lack of mids and plenty of mids left on the dial.
You ever settle on a cab? Sorry if I missed it in another thread. You asked me about the mids in my new NX2 cab awhile back. But I've only gigged it once so far so haven't dialed in alot of settings at gig volume yet.
The one time I did gig it, it was damn loud (no PA support), kicked like a mule with the STM-900 in SVT settings and a modded MTD KZ5 bass. It felt to me like the mids were more pronounced than my NeoX 212T. And still had very good loud, lows. I hadda turn down as drummer complained I was blowing him away.
I'd used my Epifani UL410 last gig there and he didn't complain. Plus I did have my rig cranked this time to see what it would do.
So far, that was at that one gig but I was very pleased with its response that nite. I imagine by now you either own one yourself or you've bought another cab that floats you're boat with the STM-900. So this is a delayed reply. I should be gigging the NX2 alot more in July and on.
Now, back to STM-900 talk. Carry on. Peace, e.

Yes, this was Brute > Streamliner > direct to board. Mine isn't stock, a previous owner modded it with Barts and an Aggie OBP-3. It sounds freaking great through my 900!
Then again, the other night i had to borrow a 5'er for rehearsal (the brute was in the shop) and even a cheapo Squier Affinity sounded fantastic through my rig. I was skeptical, but the band loved it!

FWIW- I love my STM-900 through my NX2 212T. It sounds amazing, is incredibly flexible you can't beat the portability. Just my .02 though.

Sounded nice. Thats the same pups/preamp I have in this modded MTD KZ5. It really makes that bass punch thru in the mids and still can get some huge lowend. The STM-900/NX2 cab sure helps too.
So then you never played that Brute stock? I hope they don't push back the arrival date much more on the new Brutes. I sold my 55-02D to a TBer and found myself needing (wanting) a more funk-ready-5er again.
Hoping the newer J/MM pups and coil switch the newest Brutes are coming with will get me close to what I had in the 55-02D w/J/MM pups/preamp as stock. If not, I've read the Brutes are a good foundation for modding much like these MTD KZ5's.

I've been able to trace mine back to '09, before it was modded, and then after. I've been a diehard Jazz guy my entire playing career until my gear was stolen in january. The Brute was there for cheap so i jumped on it. I'm still getting used to the MM/J pickup config. I pretty much just run the blend in the middle, have the coil tap on the MM to series, and go from there. This is my first real trip down the "active-only" street. From what the owner who modded it said, he changed out the o.g. pups and pre because it was "thin and honky", the barts and the aggie fattened it up. That was back in '09, i'm sure Brubaker is using different stuff now.
Just to keep the thread on track, i would love to hear the newer brutes through the 900!
I recently picked up a NeoX 212t. I had my 3rd gig with it last night and I love the combination. Had my head set to the SVT settings to start and adjusted for the stage. I played my P bass I built with a Quarter Pounder and my 55-02D. Just awesome! The sound was killer and when I dug in was getting some wonderful break up. Had 3 other local bassists in the crowd and they all went off on the tone.
In case anyone's wondering how does the Streamliner sound with the gain cranked up (it was set @ max with button pushed ) with a 5751 in V1. Hoping the tone isn't too sucky, but I did it just as a joke/experiment really

Nice songs and you guys are really locked in rhythmically. The singer has a bit of an Ian Anderson sound.
