Genz Benz Streamliner Part 3!!!!

I also have the LMIII and now the SL600 into a TB153 4ohm. To get the sound I wanted from the LM I always ran an xotic RC booster and a compressor in front - that helped me achieve the deep round bottom, clarity and "liveliness" that I somehow couldn't get with just the LM eq section. I can do the same thing with the SL with no additional equipment, and the highs, as has been mentioned, are just perfect for my ears. I have always struggled with a fine line between too much and not enough, but the highs are so much more "creamy" maybe? on the SL it makes it so much easier.

+1 and good post. I've also been singing the praises of the top end of the Streamliner. The LMII/III gets close... that combination of a nice treble extension that is still warm and organic (versus the sizzle of many amps). However, the Streamliner adds that tubey thing up there that reminds me a LOT of my limited experience with the Sadowsky SA200 through a full range cab. Unique top end that, as you say, brings to mind the word 'creamy'. It is not chopped off like the RH450 (also a great sounding amp in its own way)... it is all there, but it sounds very natural and 'not solid state'. Hard to describe in words. Most are looking for something way down low in their definition of 'tubey', but to me, it is that upper mid/treble area that separates the 'real tube' from the 'fake tube' tone.

^ Yep, the highs are really what sold me on it. I can get good bottom out of other units, but have always struggled with the highs I wanted. FWIW, I am not the type to shut off the tweeter on cabs, attenuated yes, but I like treble response, it is just what kind is the question. Right now, with the SL, I am running the TB153 tweet half way with good results for my ear.

Some folks have been comparing the SL900 to an SVT when wound up into distorion.
I really don't really hear that type of distortion .
But i do hear it to be more like a Ampeg B15 in clean and when wound up..

I was an Ampeg guy for 20 years and toured the Ampeg stuff all the time all over planet earth..

I do think the EQ setup on the SL would be very familiar to anyone who favors ampeg ... But it also has a clean sounding amp thing going on that reminds me of the Sa200 amp and some other high end studio type pre amps..

It can do that B15 only much much louder ! IMO

Well my Uber Quad arrived this afternoon, and of course I couldn't wait to hook her up with my STM-900.

WOW!!:hyper:

I've heard some say this cab had a very vocal characteristic. You weren't kidding! The best way I can describe it as the deepness of a 15, with the deifinition of a tight punchy 410.

Maybe the amp has some to do with this, but it sounds like there is a 410 cab, with a 15 underneath. I can't wait to get this setup out of my bedroom, and onto the stage. Unfortunately, I am currently BANDless. Anyone near Warwik NY wanna jam? :bassist:

FYI :)

Thanks again for another useful video, Ken. Maybe it's YouTube, or maybe it's my middle-aged ears, but these amps sound more alike to me than they do different, except perhaps at the very top end. This is great news for me, 'cause I got the RH450 as much for the extra features as the tone. I keep checking out this Streamliner thread, though -- there's something very compelling about this amp. Maybe I'll be able to justify a third micro one day!

That was me.. I can only describe it as Vocal... I really want to try my fretless through my 1288.. just dont have the opportunity in my current gigs. Unless i use it on the new record. Then i have an excuse to use it live...;)

Glad you like the cab... It really is awesome.. and it goes LOUD too.. I was afraid to open it up at first because there is 112 in it.. But honestly once you get a few hours on it , it seems to open up even more and the louder you play it the better it sounds.. with reason of course.:)

Stop making my GAS worse! :help: As he mumbles under is breath, "you don't need a Quad, you don't need a Quad,
you don't need a Quad, you don't need a Quad, you don't need a Quad, ....."
