Genz Benz Streamliner Part 9

Sure lots of people will; chime in, but imho, Don Oatman @ LDS would be a great person to talk to.

Low Down Sound - Custom Speaker Cabinets for Bass Guitar

Choose the 15s you like. Add 8s, or not. Add tweeter/horn, or not. For a straight 215, try the Eminence Kappa Lite 3015s or Faital Pro 15PR400s. Or another less expensive (& heavier) but still very good ferrite magnet 15.

Choose black Duratex or a color. Or do tolex. Metal grill or grill cloth.

Bottom line is lots of options all the way around for a very reasonable bottom line :bassist: .

Yes, I should check him out as well. I am also thinking of getting the fEarful kit for a 15/6 and a 15 sub for versitility. There just are so many options it kind of gets overwhelming.

Gab, I use a 600 into a Tb153 (4 ohms) as well. For some gigs its great, however sometimes I run it at 8 ohms into a 4x12 sealed Ampeg V4 cab - talk about headroom! Adding more speakers most definately adds volume and my peak light doesn't ever flash, and that's at 8 ohms.

With my Active Jazz, I have been having good luck Diming the "Volume" knob and working the gain and master to get the volume and growl I need. This results in a lower "Gain" setting with stronger mids.

Never thought of trying that one, I may have to do so. Thanks for the tip. Yes, I know, it wasn't aimed at me, but I'm going to use it anyway, so there. ;)

OK. So I went over to Bass Central yesterday. Really cool place! I went to play some specfic pieces of gear the Shuttle 9 and the Streamliner 900 in particular. I liked the Shuttle but WOW the Streamliner just sounded like it has way more ballz. Really full sounding. Pretty simple to use and dial up different tones and I barely scratched the surface with it. Way impressed with it.

I found my next amp.

sorry , i didn't mean to derail this thread with my pics of LDS cabs ...:ninja:
* bottom cab is shorter than top cab , don't have exact dimensions right now
* both cabs loaded with 3015LF speakers
* no idea of internal volume
* front ported , 4" flare

and for this I thank you. Been really strugglin gettin my sound w using just one GS112 (ya, I know the concensus here, no longer in agreement) for small gigs....and this dialed in exactly what I was missing. Never in a million years would I have stumbled on this on my own.

IMO, that would be due to your bass and not the amp. possibly shielding it better or at least checking its wiring/grounding could with help that. also, headphones seem to expose every little nuance alot more, especially in the high end.

I can get that with my jazz bass , its usually a grounding thing , never had that with my streamliner

mine was quiet - then about 8 months or so into it my Streamliner suddenly became very noisy. I replaced the V1 as instructed and it was still noisy. I sent off to Genz Benz and they replaced some items and the quietest tube they had for the v1. Its been perfect since - actually better than new! GB has the best Customer Service by far. It happens, but in the case above its probably the bass.

Double-check to see that all the shieldig bonding wires on your bass are firmly attached, including the ones for the bridge and pickup shell (if present). The strings are solidly grounded through the bridge to reduce noise that might otherwise be induced into the pickup. I'm pretty sure you will find a loose or mising shield bond.
