Ed Friedland had it out on a gig last night and said it rocked. I'm surprised he hasn't posted here yet.

he sent me an email. He mentioned that when he turned the amp on, a patron at the club screamed: "my eyes, my eyes....those blue lights have seared my retinas". They then ran screaming, while blinded, into a support beam.

He never got around to mentioning how the amp sounded.:hmm:

LMAO! Comedy gold! While a GB "standard", those blue LEDs are indeed retina-searing. Maybe an Off/Lo/Hi selector switch could be squished onto the chassis somehow?

Do you know which cab(s) he paired with it?

hmm...ya know.....no, I don't. We sent him a bunch of stuff for reviews....including Quads and 15's etc.

His email was just a short "hey...gigged with it.....". He gave a few quick, sonic comments and said more to come.

I'll find out what cabs he used.

I concur with 'tacky'. Extremely. Same with Aguilar. Play a TV gig and it's an embarrassment.

I thought maybe the lights had finally been toned down or eliminated, but apparently not. Thanks for that info. Keeps me GAS-free.

That's why God invented duck tape or paint.
Since GB seems to listen to buyers, it seems like a good thing to point out.
It is blinding on a dark stage with a bunch of them lit; looks like a mistake not quality IMO.

Have you tried to adjust the controls on any GB amp in a darkened room or dark stage? I have a Furman with lights and that helps a wee bit, but without additional lighting all I see is BLUUEEEEEEE!

I can respect that, most stages I play on have supplemental lighting and I have never done TV. Though, it is cool when I can immediately tell a GB on stage ;0)

That seems a bit melodramatic... put some nail clearcoat on it or something. I've been giging my GBE 1200 for years and it has been in several videos and on TV without complaint.

Oh, I never said I'm passing on the Streamliner b/c of the light. Nonononono. I will buy one, use it constantly, love it like my third child all the while continuing to moan about the evil blue LED. :D If the LEDs were panel mount vs. surface mount there might be a way to put a resistor in line with it to kill the brightness. Of course, you could just snip one of the leads coming from the PCB, but that would kill your warranty and your resale value...unless you soldered it back at a later time. ;)
