Genz Benz Streamliner-Pt 2

Thanks all, and my public apology to the crew at GB for being a spaceshot and calling it the Streamliner 9.0! Ouch! I went in and added annotations to correct the information, but it's all printed on the video the wrong way. Luckily, it's kind of obvious what the name is when you look at the amp, and I only said it wrong twice. What can I say? I've been using the Shuttles for so long... I just have a "point 0" mindset.

@adivin - I won't suggest you do anything either way. Best thing to do is try one and make up your own mind.

Ed, I didn't mean to put you on the hot seat with my question. I have to rely on opinions, reviews, etc for most of my gear purchases. I had to buy my RH450 without having had a chance to hear it. I will probably have to make an hour drive to actually play a Streamliner.

You'll probably get it just in time for a power outage from snow :p

It will be interesting. It is heading into Michigan right now according to the UPS tracker, but so is the snow. If we get the big wump (i.e., over a foot), my guess is it will be a day late. They are still showing it as on time.

I'm very pleased to hear that clean sound on Ed's clip. That is one of the things I never really dug about the Shuttles (except for the 3)... there was always a bit of that upper mid grit in there (along with that upper mid brightness) no matter what. Its not that it sounds bad, but just not my thing. I was hoping for a more traditional sounding 'tube' front end that could be kept sounding that way at reasonable high volumes. So far, I very much like what I hear.

Looking forward to really exploring the 'clean P Bass' tone with this one, and also with my 60's style Alleva-Coppolo Jazz:bassist:

@KJung:
Fedex closed preemptively here, til Friday/further notice.

20" and counting.

I saw you guys got really hit mid state. St. Louis literally just got a bit of a dusting (I supposedly have a meeting there Thursday morning). The snow is just starting here in Detroit, and the Amp is coming from the East, so who knows. We should have around 8" by morning, and then another 4 or 5 by end of day.

Hang in there... mid Missouri always gets the wump, doesn't it!

If you never turn it past 3/4 you'll be fine on the 210

+1 I like their design of lots of 'preamp headroom' in the input stage, and then the 'boost' sort of thing to really kick up the input level to drive that tube. I'll never do that, but it is nice to have plenty of play in the input gain to go from super clean to really pushed.

Still "white out" here, and not supposed to quit til mid day tomorrow.
University closed two days in a row, first time I can remember that in my 30 years here.
Final total=who knows. Lots.

They should have sent the Weather Channel team to your neck of the woods. The poor guys are sitting in St. Louis, and you can still see grass through the dusting of sleety snow:p

FedEx is also putting a hold on anything shipping from, to, or through the storm path. I have a bass coming from Maryland (to Cape) and it's grounded for at least a day. We're not expected to get any snow, just a massive amount of freezing rain, below freezing temperatures, and ice. Knowing how bizarre the university is, though, I doubt they'll close campus for a day.

Back on topic, I'm all but sold on this little guy. Since I've pretty much got my GK sale in the bag and will be getting the necessary cash from my tax return soon I'll probably pull the trigger next week! :hyper:

Sounds more like Beefalo than CoMo:D
Hasn't hit here yet-s'pposed to begin tomorrow and dump anywhere between 6 and 18". Fortunately, the fireplace is ready and I have the perfect match for it. As the Dead said: "The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean".

Doubt I will get mine very soon. Tulsa Ok got around 12" in many areas and up to 16" in some! We are shut down. Too bad I was hoping to get mine this week. Maybe!?

We've got about 14 inches now (5:40 PM - Tues) about 30 miles west of St. Louis. No FedEx operating here either. This is a very tempting purchase.

I lived in Springfield, MO for a year in my 20's. We got 11 inches one night when I was up there. Miserable experience. Maybe I'm just jaded having grown up around hurricanes my whole life, but I'd much rather deal with the threat of total destruction than I would getting all that freakin' snow every winter.
