Genz Benz Streamliner Pt 7.....

I have a situation where GC owes me, and the only thing I really need right now is a bag to carry my STM-900. I'm looking for something that GC carries in their stores for around $30-$40 range. Any suggestions?

I DID try to search here, but there are SOOOOOooo many threads and posts, that I thought this way would be quicker and easier.

Oh and it has to be something that is in their regular stock.

To make a food analogy, if you like BBQ ribs, then the right sauce really completes the flavour. If you don't like ribs, then nothing is going to help.

I hear you (& appreciate the warning). I'm basically a tight, clean, hammeringly solid tone type of person, so I've been sceptical about the Streamliners for my needs.

My main GAS amp for the moment is the Mesa M9.

They carry the Gator Bags I think. Gator makes a mixer bag that the Streamliner fits perfectly in.

Tried Tube swapping with the STL-600 today. I put a 12AU7 in the V2 pos (Bass & Treb Gain) -seemed to give it a little less boominess (this is all "to my ears" as Many don't hear this scooped boomy-ness. ) It SOunds GREAT - fan -bloody -tastic on its own, but in a band/.... I get lost in the mix.

ANYWAY- Put JJ 12AU7 - V2 (what tubes I had lying round- I WILL order some new ones to do this properly ASAP) Put '70's Philips 12AX7 into V1 (GAIN) Seemed to have a nicer OD sound.
Put an old '70's MINIWATT 12AX7 into V3 (mid gain)

I was doing this at work :-{p so was doing it all either quietly thru an AE112 or LOUDLY thru headphones!!!!

I DID try the AU7 in V1 but only got a TINY bitta OD when gain was MAXXED. This MAY be what I end up going for, but for now I decided on the swaps I did, as they seemed the best combination for Me with what I had at the time.
Will report back after gigs tonite & at weekend. I'll use the STL for one at least!

Anyone have their backlight LED go out? Amp works great but is annoying, would love to be able to fix it myself. I've only had it a month and haven't been inside the chassis yet.

Besides that, this is an amazing amp. I'm running passive Geddy -> Radial Tonebone -> 900 and it kills. I had a Shuttle 6 prior, and this is a whole nutha level.

This happened to someone on one of the threads here. I think they called up Genz and had them deal with it. You may want to contact TBer AgedHorse (Andy) about it - he's a cool dude and is very quick to respond to queries here.

Here is my Streamliner 900 at sound check on a gig in Morzine, France this week..
I used the amps DI on a stadium size gig.. It was perfect... With all state of the art PA gear the crew loved the amp....!
They mic'd the 810 rental cab too.

Yes. the STreamliner 900 handles larger cabs very well..
The monitors are so good on this tour that i dont need large amounts of stage volume..But the 900 has way more than enough to send that cab to an early death if i cranked it too much.
But i set the amp to where i get a sweet spot on stage so when it comes time to play a few diddys, i get amp tone and not Side fills or IEM tones..

Just so you can see scale size of the stage to amp ratio. Here is a pic that i took of our opening band.. He's a guy from Ireland named Johnny Galleger at their daytime sound check.... great band! great bunch of guys too. And they like their Guinness as much as I do.

I hear ya. I do miss the quickness of heads like the Mesa M-series, though I've never had the chance to try one in person yet. In fact, I just bought an M6 that should be here in a week or so. I'm looking forward to trying it next to my S900 and seeing which one stays and which one goes.

Man, that is some serious reinforcement! So you aren't using in-ears and it doesn't sound like a wash?

I am on in ears.. the singer and me are the only ones using IEMs.. . I just like them and if thats all i had i would be fine.....
There are L and R side fills and floors wedges spread about... I have a little of everything in my wedge... loud drums in side by me and my ears i like bass, drums vox mix but NO gits or Keys. I get them in my wedge and i like to get away from them if i have to..They are always too loud anyway... hahah. I run my ears as just a fill and not loud..
but so you can hear what you need to play tight without delay..
The wedges and sides are very clear and perfect.. with IEMS i really dont need them but it feels good to get the thump..
Everyones milage will differ though.. its just what makes me happy.. and i am a grouchy %^&

Nashville heat? ughh oh...
It snowed in Morzine the day after we left...All of Europe seems to be in the 70s.. I like that...
Warsaw Poland was rather warm.. but nice.. 104 in Dallas today...ughhh Nashville can be brutal.. I hope you are having a great time.,, but stay cool :)

I never thought about that before, but photos of the Streamliner on top of an 8*10, make it look like a pimple on a haystack.

Maybe there's a market for empty shells, to drop over micro heads for a more studly look. Cooling fans and knob extensions would be optional extras, of course. Anyone up for a Marshall Major, or maybe a GBE1200 headcover?

Come to think of it, given that we're on TB, this could be the subject of a poll or two- can the average TB'er tell the difference between SL900's placed under Ampeg and Mesa shells?

When I was living and working in Nashville, I used to play at a large church in Bellevue. Starting using IEMs in the late 90s. Took some getting used too (i.e. sterile, couldn't vibe off the audience), but in the end they worked out well. Still had the wedge for the "thump" factor and sometimes left one IEM out, so I could vibe off the congregation. Never any guitar or snare in my IEM, plenty of volume on stage. How do you get a guitar player to turn down?
