OK, how bout this. You bought a car on eBay, delivered with a flat, what are you gonna do?


I am trying to say, tubes are like tires, they can go wrong at any time;
and you sort of have to expect them to happen, almost always at the most inconvenience of time.

Thailand is a good distance from Taiwan. If the TC factory is in Thailand, then it'd be quite a distance to the GB factory in Taiwan.

Also, AFAIK Taiwan has a much better manufacturing infrastructure than Thailand.

You may well be correct on this score, but it appears that the same Thai factory builds the Polytune and Nova series pedals, and the G-system. I have a Nova delay pedal -- very solid, works flawlessly, and TCE seems to have a pretty good rep generally for build quality.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply any quality differences in manufacturing processes between the two nations.

My only point was that the infrastructure for manufacturing facilities is likely better established in Taiwan since they've been at it for quite some time.

Changing a preamp tube is not like changing a tire. It takes much less time and effort and is such a small, trivial job to do. Current production tubes are not really costly either so I'm left at a loss. To me it's more trouble to deal with taking something back but there is always that guy next me in the restaurant that demands his steak be replaced because he asked for rare and got medium rare instead.

But it all boils down to one thing.

There are doer's and nae doer's. The doer's will always be busy doing while the nae's are busy complaining about it. The nae's always seem to expect the doers to keep busy doing and the doer's often think how silly it would all be if they just stopped doing. :D

That's OK, didn't mean to imply that you did! :) And, I'm sure you are correct concerning the infrastructure differences, I was merely commenting on my experience with a single TCE product (and the rep of a few others) made in the same place. All cool!
