Genzler Amplification Club

If it ends up being a preamp of some sort, that might just take the place of the Magellan and be able to ran into the Streamliner for a best of both worlds type thing...

I doubt I will be playing with an amp and cab on stage when I play next, so my biggest thoughts is just the sounds available. I like the two channels of the Magellan. The ability to switch from clean to a little grit is a big plus for my needs. That in a pedal format for IEM would be nice. Otherwise, the head I choose will be used as a DI.

I haven't ever had the chance to try out a Streamliner, but I'm loving the MG800 (MG350). There are a lot of tone options available. I'll be curious to hear how things turn out for you.

By the way, that's quite a pair of dogs you have there!

I can see why Jeff says that the Magellan is considered an update to the Streamliner by many. It seems to take all the positive aspects of it, and mix it with what a lot of people hoped the Streamliner would be.

How we got them both to look at the camera for that picture is beyond me! I think the flashing that the phone was doing seemed to catch their attention. The phone was sitting on a ladder, so no one behind the camera calling their names. They're a great couple of dogs that love meeting new people. They were very intrigued when the technician from the gas company came by today!

Looks like you have quite the pair as well!

This is a question for Jeff or anyone who may have tried this:

I have a Genzler Acoustic Array Pro, the Gollihur version, and after many years of lurking here and reading the praises for the gear, I finally got a Magellan 800 and BA-12/3 Slanted.

My question is: do you see any issue if I try connecting the woofer of the Acoustic Array Pro plus the BA-12/3 to the Magellan 800? I know I need an adapter cable to make the connection to the Array Pro's woofer, and the system will be 4 ohms, but is there any other thing I'd need to watch out for?

I have to agree, BTW, that the praises here for the Genzler gear are very well deserved! I'm quite enjoying the sound of the Magellan 800 and BA 12/3 slanted.

@s0707 thanks for taking to plunge into more GENZLER gear and glad you're enjoying it.
About your question --- I would make sure the cable you use to connect to the 1/4" plug from the AA-PRO combo is of good quality. ALSO, not sure if you're using for upright, or downright (elec) bass instrument. I would say I would just be a little cautious as to how hard you drive the smaller cab. It is our 10" NEO driver like the BA10-2 cab, but in a even smaller enclosure with different porting than that cab.
Just take it a little easy there. I'm sure it will add a little more upper mid clarity and top-end to the BA12-3 SLT --- mostly because of the smaller 10" and pointing up more at you.

Great, @Jeff Genzler, thank you so much for your help and the info. Much appreciated.

I will definitely take it real easy. Not that I have a great need of a lot of power; I was just curious about what alternatives I could have in terms of combinations. The higher clarity sounds like something really good for upright, with the BA cab reinforcing the low end even further.

Of course, I could always plug the BA cab to the AA-PRO amplifier, which might be safer...

FWIF, I plan to build the adapter cable with 14 ga. canare speaker cable, a large-barrel switchcraft TS female connector and a Neutrik speakon connector. I think they're good quality; plus my soldering skill is getting better every day.

@RColie --- Well since you've brought this up, this would normally be NAMMn ---- new product launch time. Things are going to be very different this year with product launches, but we do have a little something that we've had requests for, for some time know. Starting small, we now offer our Magellan 800 single button footswitch for DRIVE channel switching.
Just a starting point for 2021.

Hi everyone, thought i'd put myself forward to be part of the Genzler Club.
I've had my MG800 now for a few years, Bass direct introduced me to it and I have never looked back.
I've always turned to Talk Bass for advice and guidance and thought it best that i finally join and get involved.

So after touring heavily with my Genzler, back in the glorious years before 2020, and several near misses with roadies (and my caveman of a drummer) I decided to idiot proof my head and build a small rack rig. The plate is a custom build from Penn-Elcom and my next step will be a draw underneath for batteries etc.
I've also got a custom designed rear plate for connections and easy power. At the moment it's just a rear slam door.

I've been running IEMs for the past few years so rarely run my own cabinet, got an old ultrabass cab for emergencies and a Trace Elliot fridge in the studio, so my head just drives house cabs and DI for the FOH. Although lockdown has left me missing a cab and I've been eyeing up the array closely.

Anyway here's the progress so far. Seriously can not wait to get this out on a stage again !!
