I got my head in and finally got her running. I am putting it through my interface and monitors until I get my markbass stuff back. I couldn't be happier with the tones I'm pulling from this!

Can the GT load external IR's? if so could you try the IR I created for the 12-3. It seems to be working for the helix, (and Logic Pro) but would be nice to see if it works on other gear too...

Looks like you are cutting those important mid frequencies 150-200hz and the contour is bypassed all the way left.

Lots of great tones in there but you don’t want to get lost in the mix either. The Magellan sounds great with everything at noon and Contour to taste. It’s an amazing amp. Just be careful cutting to much goodness!

I couldn't agree more about it set flat. I'm literally in the knob twisting phase just checking stuff out, running my pedals in the loop through the front, using the gt1000 or my Axe I/O. Played a little hell getting the input output levels right so my monitors could handle the lows. I have a whopping 3hrs or so of fiddling around. I do wish the mid frequency knob had more marks. I'm gonna make my own so no biggie. I label all my stuff so I can try to cut down on redundancy.

Can I get the link to your IR? I tried search through the thread but didn't come up with anything.

Also is anyone giving out Club numbers?

Happy knob turning, I agree that mostly flat with a touch of contour flavor is where it's at. I made the mistake of not using mine for a year and a half as I wasn't playing out. Now I have it setup through my interface and it inspires me to play every day. I usually use an Ampeg 8x10 IR and it sounds so deep even on the drive channel.

Haha, I'm using the same IR. I love it. Can't wait to try the genzler IR from @Loring

Ok - so Sean helped test out this new version and it seems to play nicely with his setup so for anyone else - here is an impulse response created with Logic Pro and converted to more common .wav format.

let me know if it’s useful for you.

The more I play with my Darkglass pedals into my MG800 the more I like an in between clean and dirty fret grind sound. I used to be into the super modern distorted bass tones and I still am to some extent but I'm really enjoying how warm and touch sensitive this rig is. I feel like a guitarist who uses his volume knob for those sweet mid gain sounds, I love it!

Oh yes, I love the punchy thrash tones and round bottom end. I had have a markbass head and I sold my darkglass microtubes before getting this. What an amazing amp.

Hey Genzler buds...do you use/recommend a high pass filter (HPF) on your pedalboard? Do the Magellan heads have built-in HPFs of some kind negating the need for an external box? I know that HPFs work quite differently than traditional EQ to filter out deep unwanted frequencies.

TIA!

Thanks. Guess I'll switch to the 800 to make room on my board.

I hope you enjoy the drive channel.

Also if its true that the HPF is at 30hz I'm very glad I changed my active preamp. I can't stand when the bass frequency on a preamp is at 30hz, I'm high passing that area in post for recordings anyway and I don't enjoy cutting on a bass control. I like the 70hz control on my new preamp ran flat or with a touch of boost.
