Took my markbass in to GC for an appraisal and this happened... I wasn't planning on it but the dude gave him his friends and family discount... a 1000watt 212 for 800 bucks was too hard to pass up.

Those are some good low mid (finger style) punch settings. Boosting that 200-250HZ area will bring that forward. My settings are below. Keep in mind, I use a Darkglass B7KU that boost areas I’m cutting to even things out. A Contour around 10:00 is my sweet spot! Amber shown for foot switch purposes.

Used my footswitch for the first real time just now doing some test tracking, didn't go too bad even though I'm usually an always on or off guy with pedals. The benefits of being able to switch on the fly section by section are too good to pass up.

The pristine clean channel really shines through more with the 12-3 IR not dampening the tone nearly as much as my 8x10 IR I was using. The drive channel was also a lot less murky than before so that is a win.

I agree with @Joeykun that 10:00 is a safe spot for contour B (or A!), perfect and seamless between the two channels.

I'll have to fine tune my EQ and volumes for a compromise between a good drive and clean sound for a one take recording but I'm well on my way I think.

So how do you like the Darkglass 212 so far?

I was worried about it being too harsh up top but it's not at all. Yes, it sounds like a DG cab. But it's got a lot of booty. Most of the tone is the Magellan 800, the cab handles the 4ohms beautifully. Noon is enough to shake the foundations and I may have caused a couple photos to fall off of the wall. Major upgrade from the markbass combo. I really don't use a lot of distortion nor do I find the typical metalcore bridge tone appealing or usable in my life. The growl I get though qith my neck pickup in passive is glorious and very hard rock.

Mind sharing your eq setting and signal chain for that tone? I've never quite been able to dial in that kind of deep tone.

Oh man.....pretty sure the EQ was flat with some A contour dialed in. This is my new Sire v5.....it has a pretty hefty tone to it. I’m sure I had the tone rolled off some too.....can’t remember. Sorry as that’s a pretty vague answer.....

edit: I was also slightly favoring the bridge p/u.

Thank You! That sire has a beautiful voice in shocked you say you're favoring the bridge too.
