I hear you Steve. In Eugene and surrounding areas, though, I'm not running into any big venues with house PAs. So all of my gigs have been vocals only in our own PA and my rig covers the venue. I'm pretty much set for basses as well and if I ever get my cabinet preferences sorted I'll be good there. I've tried various pedals in the past but none of them spoke to me long-term. However, I'm about ready to try some pedals again. First up will be 4 On The Floor, even though I'm not much of an overdrive guy, but the pedal seems to have a lot of potential for different tones. And hey, it's Jeff and Andy!
Sure. I'm fortunate that we bring our own PA, lights and guy to every gig. If FOH is supplied - like a festival - we bring our rack board so we can split snake and run our IEM's. Also have our sound guy at every gig. We're the easiest load in/sound check ever for a festival stage.
I have a good friend who is the hired soundguy for 32 Below out of Fargo but your post about having a fulltime sound guy made me think you might be with them (or Tripwire) but I remembered that Paint the Town is out of Grand Forks so was just curious. I've followed y'all on Facebook for a while. I try to keep dibs on bigger bands in the area just in case we need to network or need assistance for something as we're out playing.
Yeah, we don't do a very good job of keeping social media updated. We need to work on that. But frankly, we don't play a lot of "public" gigs. Not many venues in GF and they don't pay well. We tend to do private stuff, weddings, corporate, etc. I know of both those bands. I think I know the drummer in Tripwire. I'm not sure I'd callus a "bigger" band in the area, but we have a certain clientele and some annual gigs. We all have kids and stuff so we limit ourselves to 2 gigs a month. We don't always have 2 gigs a month, but that's kind of our limit. Keeps us from burning out as well. But if you ever need something, give us a shout. We'll help if we can.

While we've played Fargo a couple times, I've not had the pleaure of making up to Grand Forks. It's good to know though that if we ever do, there's a great band with solid musicians and a bass player who knows and uses great gear!
Question for you Genzlers out there:
I recently moved my massive Bag End rig out of my music room/basement and into the studio I play in, which is a relief - the 1x18" ELF (flat to 18hz) and 2x10" Bag end sounded amazing but they were huge, weighed a ton (~85lb each), and were way too much for the smallish music room (10x20-ish) they were in. I'm a little more bummed about moving my Alembic F1X with them, but thats another story.
I'm looking to replace them with a Magellan 350 and either a 12-3 or a 10-2. I see that the 12-3 is rated down to 35hz and the 10-2 is rated down to 55 hz, do folks with a low B string and have both notice a big difference? The specs dont say what "35hz" means -3db at 35hz, or -6db, etc. The 10-2 does seem a good bit smaller and weighs a good amount less (21lb vs 32lb).
thx in advance - i play a dingwall ab1-g and low frequency resolution is pretty important to me (which is why i went with a ELF bag end rig originally). I'll be using it at fairly low volumes in my music room and taking it out for the (very) occasional rock gig.

The 12-3 handles the low B on my Roscoe and Moollon with ease….can’t speak for the 10-2

I now have both the BA10-2 and BA12-3. The 12-3 is a good bit more solid in the lows and I would recommend that cab for what you're describing. The 10-2 is no slouch, the 12-3 just brings more. And with the top bar handle the 12-3 is pretty easy to carry.
Oddly enough I find the 15 slightly lighter and easier to move around compared to either of my 12's.

I find my MG350/12T-V to be easier to carry than when I had it mounted to a BA10-2. Weird.
I love my Uber Quads. A little big by todays standards, but the sound so good. Enjoy!

Yes, but perhaps not too much. I've owned pairs of the same cab on a few occasions. Out of curiosity I weighed them on an accurate postal scale and they were all within a pound of each other. I should weigh my BA10-2s and see how close they are...

Nice! I was thinking about that pairing this morning and curious how the 410 sits on top of the slant 15.
