You've played most of the Mesa amps as well; which do you think the Kinetix shares the most in common? Or is it its own unique thing? I'm intrigued by everything this team builds!

I have played all the Mesa Subway amps. The new 800D is closest to the Kinetix as far as controls but it sounds more aggressive to me. The WD-800 can sound similar to the Kinetix but it requires extensive use of EQ to get there.

The Kinetix is voiced in a way that works for me. We all enjoy an amp that sounds great without a lot of EQ, don’t we? I simply cut the treble a little and the Kinetix sounds fantastic.

I hope no one is thinking I am dissing the Mesa Subway heads. They are awesome. The 800D is a better amp choice for many players.

We are blessed to have superb amps to choose from.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Genzler BA2-410-3 to pair with an SVT head. I posted about it here a few years ago, it's might be another week or two. They're out of stock at ZZounds where I ordered it last week. I was surprised Sweet Water didn't carry them but I'm familiar with ZZ and have never had any problems with them so I ordered it there. I'll post when I get it. Incidentally, is there anyway to mount feet to the bottom of these things?

Posting again to celebrate my Shuttle 9.0's 15th year anniversary. It's been with me in 3 states, many bands and just keeps going. I recently picked up a "matching" 2x12 Genz Benz cabinet that happened to pop up on Craigslist. I'm currently making sure I don't blow up the cab.

I've used this head with:
  • 4x10 ampeg cab
  • two 2x10s, an old Avatar and a Markbass, stacked vertically for a skinny & tall stack
  • backlined 8x10s, too many different ones to count
  • A Mesa Subway 2x10 and 1x15 (I still have the 1x15 but sold the 2x10)
  • Various 2x10s and 15s in 8 ohm mode
  • And now my 2x12 Neo Genz Benz cabinet. We finally have brand matching.
I just realized the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 is actually the oldest piece of bass gear I own. I've sold all the other basses and cabs I had at the time but the Shuttle keeps kicking. I've tried and passed on the Mesa or Genzler heads I messed around with in stores. They weren't bad heads, just not really that different to my ears than the amp I got in 2011. They really made it right the first time.

Can't go wrong with Genz-Benz................... I had the NeoX212 cab as well, but had it matched up with the Shuttlemax 6. A perfect combo! (I wish I kept it!)

@bobyyoung53 --- Thank you for your purchase of the BA2-410-3 cab from zZounds. About your question, yes there are large rubber feet on the bottom of the cabinet. That is how they come. We appreciate your support and look forward to hearing your feedback on your new cabinet.

Cross posting here because I figured this crowd would appreciate some vintage Genz-Benz.

As promised, here's pictures of the setup from rehearsal last night! Yesterday was a more experimental industrial project with a keyboard player and a drummer with a light touch. Friday will be my test with a much louder drummer and guitar player but I am not worried at all. The sound at 9 o'clock was monstrous. Big shaking lows and a clear mid/top end. I actually found the tweeter at noon to be too harsh with a very modern sound coming out of a Strandberg Boden with fresh roundwound strings, so I turned the tweeter down and it was perfect.

I'm venturing into "tonewood" levels here but, bear with me, I've always strongly preferred this how this amp sounds at 4 ohms over 8 ohms. If I'm plugged into an 8 ohm 4x10, no matter where I set the master volume it doesn't sound as heart-stoppingly loud as a 4 ohm 4x10 at 9 o'clock. I can't explain it, but it's great to have this amp plugged into a 4 ohm setup again. I had to sell a bunch of gear for a move 3 years ago and the only thing the Shuttle 9.0 was plugged into was a 8 ohm 1x15.

Enjoy this picture of my "vintage" Class D setup! That Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 has been with me since I bought it new in 2011. The cab below I picked up Sunday from a guy who bought it new in 2007.
