Well, this all certainly looks mighty impressive.

Hey Kirk,
Belated condolences for the passing of your Dad. I've got that same bridge looming in the near future, I'm afraid.

Back to the Magellan, can you comment on your perception of heft factor vs the 1200, which I know you adored and gigged hard? Round 2 of the micros with the better power modules looks to be amazing. Thanks.

Oh yes...
I have had a few 1200 amps.. lol . The Shuttle MAX 12.0 , the Fender 1200 and my GBE 1200. Sorry...
I did not have time to really do an A/B between the others and teh magellan..
I noticed that the Magellan 800 Definitely has something different going on than the other Lightweight amps that I had a chance to gig. Actually it is the only NEW lightweight that I had a chance to play LIVE. They all sound great in teh living room .. But on the gig is where I can tell the difference.
And the Magellan holds onto the BODY of the note for full duration where other lightweights seem to produce the initial attack and then fall off right afterwards giving it a thinner feel. The Magellan did not do that. It was the first thing that I noticed about 2 measures into playing on my gigs last week.
I don’t feel it is an EQ thing. It is more a power related thing .. IMO.. it feels more robust and forceful than my old first generation SM1200.

It definitely has a thickness and Rock or Motown punch. It can go very HIFI too.. It IS NOT a one trick pony...
I may not be here for a couple of weeks. I have a session later to day , my original gig tonight, a cover 80s gig tomorrow , church gig on sunday morning 7AM !! Something that is rough about 7 AM soundchecks.. then we start our cross country drive to NYC and CT after sunday gig..
Just happy and blessed to have work.. So i dont complain.
Ill try to get back here as i can, but its a busy next couple of weeks.

The HPF on the Magellan 800 IS similar to previous models you enjoyed.
As for the discussion of a Variable HPF, we choose to address this in a different way.
Our DRIVE channel offers a higher HP frequency and as you increase the gain it offers additional roll-off, which if you are pushing the channel for a more driven to overdrive setting, this provides a much smoother, more musical character.

Another way we've addressed this discussion is with our Contour Curve B. This contour features a higher HP setting with the amount of roll off increasing as you increase the control. Just to be clear the Frequency does not increase but the amount of roll off does. This filter also boosts low mids AND gently rolls off top end as increased as well.

I hope this addresses your interest.
