Every year, I hope that the snow doesn’t linger till after Christmas. This morning it was raining and snowing. I had enough of it last winter. The sidewalks were just wet. The park where it’s colder, had a blanket of white flakes on the grass.

As usual, the dogs don’t mind at all. Find a puddle and they have to stand in it.

I hear that it’s sunny and warm in Florida.

Well, true...but also, Jack wasnt in the lineup at the time. Would have been Pete Sears or Dave Freiberg. Also, now that I think about it, Jorma wasnt there either. Craig Chaquito was playing lead.

I’m forced to wear jeans, a winter coat, scarf, gloves, and a Yak wool hat. Some geese are flying in military formation overhead, headed south to look for corn fields.

The first time I saw snow, I was forced to shovel it at boot camp, Great Lakes Naval Training Center, 1964. Y'all can keep that 'stuff'.

Two of my neighbors have ponds. I'm 3 miles from the Cedar River and 8 miles from the Mississippi. Also 10 miles from a 400 acre marsh reserve. The geese want no part of my yard.

Unlike my Thunderbird, which chose me, I chose the Navy. 2 other guys from my high school's band went in the Navy music program. It seemed to me a good way to not get drafted or get my @$$ shot off. This was during the Vietnam 'conflict' and being a mediocre at best student, I knew I'd bust out of college and wind up cannon fodder.
