Wife found her left eye was more fuzzy lately than it normally is. Turned out she had a reoccurence of a cataract they had cut out many years ago, when she got two new lens replacements. Now she sees 20/15. Well, we were really scared-- wondering if they would have to put a hole in her eye again like they did before, then a day with an eye patch on. Turns out, this small cloud over her left eye can be instantly evaporated with four puffs of a laser beam. She goes in for eye surgery and the operation takes 15 minutes including prep. She's so relieved but still scared. Anytime we talk about eyes it's a scary concept.

The good news is--after getting her eye safely restored, we're getting a much needed break away and get to go to Anchorage for the procedure. After she's done with her eye, she won't need a patch and we'll have two days to pretend to be tourists in Anchorage. Thank God for today's advanced technology in medical and optical care.

If you are in a crosswalk you are a pedestrian... if not, you are a target.

That's how it is here, if there is a labeled crosswalk, not at any stop sign or intersection. They put signs up on campus with an arrow pointing to where the crosswalks begin; in the street past the parked cars. They do have absolute right of way if there is a walk light and it says walk, as soon as it says don't walk, targets! No running over students before tuition reimbursement ends! I've seen three run over in 10 years, twice lock my brakes to avoid students with ear buds and they never knew. Both jay walking. Avoid at least one a day. We can teach them how to build rockets, but not cross a street. Parents pay the tuition, buy their books, they eat the books.

I can sympathize with your wife. My cataracts were making me legally blind. A wonderful but now retired doctor did the surgery on one eye followed a couple of months later by the other. I have a reading eye and a distance eye. I do have reading glasses but they are only needed for close work.

After the surgery i was left with a few “floaters” that he zapped with a laser.

The biggest kick for me was to see, for the first time, all the wonderful colours in our Shepherd/Husky cross’s fur. I couldn’t stop looking at her. I especially liked our 8 o’clock cuddles when she would climb onto my lap and snuggle. I miss her so much!! :(

I miss all our past dogs. :crying: Dogs are our kids.

I cant get my eyes fixed. Once or twice a year I need something I can only get at Walmart. I have to leave my glasses in the car so I can bear the sight of the professional grade wallmart shoppers!

This is not going to end well!

Let's face it. When we (G.O.F's)were kids , there was a rule. Look both ways before you cross. It worked well. Somewhere along the line some garbage about "the pedestrian has the right of way" got started. Since then , and especially in big cities, I see idiots not even looking up from their cell phones when they cross a street. Hmmmmmm , lets see how that works. A 160 pound pedestrian runs into a 3800 pound car. Pedestrian loses every time. Tough rocks pal. You should have looked both ways. And now they pass laws empowering pedestrians into thinking that they can now impose their will on 3800 pound cars and cry their butts off when it doesn't work out well for them. Idiots , we are surrounded by idiots.
My solution if you hit one of these morons.......back up and run over them again , no sense in leaving witnesses. O K , that was a bit harsh and I'm just kidding...........at least I think I'm kidding.

This is what we get when everybody gets a trophy for just showing up. Everybody is special, which I somewhat agree with but not when self esteem trumps knowledge and facts, when your self esteem makes you think you are invulnerable ........ you will lose !!!.

Here in Toronto we had a case recently where a young woman on a moped tried to pass, on the inside, a TTC bus pulling into a bus stop. luckily, for her, she managed to ride up onto the sidewalk where she hit a tree. Unlucky for her the vehicle following had a dash cam that videoed the entire incident. It cleared the bus driver who didn’t even know anything had happened. The woman was tracked down in Montreal where she was trying to hide from the media circus. Her only comment was..............................................wait for it now..........................................."I thought I could make it.” LOL

Good one Paul!

TB even gives out trophies!

Remember, you're unique, just like everyone else!

I've gotten by with cheap drugstore readers for the last 15 years or so.

Vision changes caused me to get an eye exam. I've had a lazy eye all my life, and was used to not having full depth perception. My new prescription gives me 20/20 both sides, and the improvement makes me feel liking I'm walking around in a 3D movie.

Everything looks so good, that I'm grinning like an idiot everywhere I go!

GOF content: I now have separate eyewear for computer work and distance vision. As wonderful as it is to see so clearly, I keep tackling tasks while wearing the wrong pair. Bah. Humbug.

My Dorothy suggested that you tie a pink ribbon to one pair so you know which are which. Either that or get a pair of eye glass chains, one gold and one silver, to hang them around your neck. If you find you’re wearing the wrong pair it’s easy to switch. An added bonus is that when you are eating and something drops, your glasses will be there to catch the food for you leading to less waste!! :D
