OK, i'm going to address this. I never said anything about not wanting to hear about anyone's service. What I said was that after many, many pages of a lot of discussion about that, I was feeling I had nothing to contribute. Now I'm feeling deliberately and forever called out for hoping to steer the conversation on THAT DAY back toward something we could all participate in. Every time this snark comes out, I find it hurtful. So maybe that's no better than what I did that day? Or maybe I just don't belong in this thread.

Not my bass, but I did consider buying it a few years ago if the price had come down to something more reasonable than it was priced at.

Not true at all, LBS. We all bring different histories to the table. Some of us vets got on a little 'share your experience' tear. Particularly, those of us from the Vietnam era were not well respected after our time, so when we find a kindred spirit, we share. I'm fairly certain you have experienced things many of us haven't-like having a jazz drummer as an S.O. We're just chattin' here. Yer more than welcome
It was reportedly the only recording studio within 100 miles of San Diego. It was built by an airplane mechanic from hangar materials that he hauled home. The expression, the company is written all over his home rings true. Maybe it was from a torn down hangar.
There are stories of Ampeg workers taking parts home in their lunchpails and assembling amps for themselves. Things like that were common back then. Even the guy that owned the company, Everette Hull, sold amps out the back door on Saturdays.

And I am truly appreciative of everyone's varied experience. I just don't like being targeted for simply saying I had nothing to contribute to a particular topic. That was weeks ago and it'd be real nice if we could just move on.

Earlier today, I read a reminiscence from someone who worked at/owned/ran the Iron Door Club; he was talking about a Beatles performance he witnessed way back when.
