Happened to see Orange of the Orange amps clan offers some pretty good lookin' cans at a decent price. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Except for my (new) Sennheisers do everything the Orange does and they're noise canceling too.

Haven't really figured out how to use all the telephone functions on mine. But haven't really bothered.

I haven't decided if I can cop to a wireless solution just yet. Time to throw down a few tracks this week and get a feel for the workflow I'll be dealing with. I've never played seated much but it may be time to jump off that bridge too, I guess.

Both my new Senns and these Oranges have cable options. I even tried mine once. It works. Pig Hog's headphone extension cable is massively over-engineered and I love it.

Thankee, thankee very much. I have some trick sheath wrap that a friend gave me, a DIY headphone extension widget would be a great use for it.

I use corded headphones made by Blue. Normally I can’t wear headphone for extended periods but these changed all that. Like many, they are lightweight and comfortable, but somethig about the drivers doesn’t make me dizzy.

Along with the headphones I use an app (Reference 4 from Sonarworks) that makes the audio response of the headphones flat. Good for mixing without the influence of the baked in sound of the headphones, which they all have.

I recall many years ago when my grandmother was given the choice of hip surgery or being bedridden for the rest of her life. Neither she nor her daughters saw any choice in that, but the surgery unbalanced her electrolytes and she only lasted a few days. I had her for the last night shift and she babbled all night long while I replied with my favorite memories of her retirement cabin in the woods. That is a bittersweet memory I'll always cherish.

It was hard for her to be isolated from family for so long due to the no visiting policies. We got to see her through her window at the elder care facility on mother's day. She was discharged from the hospital last Thursday and much family has been able to visit and interact with her. I'm so thankful that she has been lucid and able to see and hear from everyone. It could have been much worse.

This is too good not to share. When my brother the drummist who lives in LaPlata, MO came to visit our mom,
he was telling me how the performance of his band playing in his back yard was picked up and broadcast worldwide by the train cam two blocks away at the Amtrack station. Apparently this cam is well known by train buffs all over the world. The band was getting comments and critiques from everywhere. The best part? They got a good paying gig!

Ahoy ye GOFs

It is during the brutal recovery from two full knee replacements I decide this is not going to stop me from playing bass, and I'm buying a purposed seat for this. Waiting for me when I get home twenty three days later is a DT8500 On Stage Guitar / Keyboard Throne. It does not strike me as highly portable as it's built like a brick hitsouse.

There are folding ones with a built-in stand and that's likely what I'll do next opportunity.

I didn't know you had a double knee replacement. I do so hope that your recovery will be swift. My Dorothy needs the same but the virus came and all non essential surgeries went out the window. Be well soon Lass.

Thank you, I'm recovered by now. Ahead of me is a procedure to fuse my right subtalar joint. The osteoarthritis chewed through pretty well and my foot is visibly askew as I stand and walk. I was to have completed that procedure by now but for another condition in the same leg that needed to be taken care of first. Late September for the procedure.

The timing is so that I may attend a dinner function for the founding anniversary of my journalism school. And journalists being kind of unpopular in some quarters ... anyway I did speak with them recently and they asked I come to NYC and share my contribution to the industry. It's been 30 years since I was in that magical place (not NY, graduate school). It's a different world in the heart of the industry than it is in grad school.

Fully intend to be "on my feet" for that, and it will mark the first time in the city since 9-11. Said I was never going back but you know what they say about making those kinds of promises to oneself.
