And now.................
You know the rest of the story! :D

... and for an obscure footnote to the rest of the story ...

There was an editor at a daily newspaper that long ago ceased to exist who listened to Paul Harvey every single day. Paul Harvey is/was many things, but what he wasn't was a first day story writer. A "first day story" (in the jargon of the profession) is a story written on the day of the event. Fire hydrant accident floods 3 blocks, paper runs the story and photos in the next edition.

"Second" and "Third" day stories are just filling in the blanks from the first day story. Which is where Paul Harvey found his niche. He presented stories so old they had hair on them. So old, in fact, that the editor completely forgot his own paper ran that story x months+ ago.

All fired up to be able to run that great story in his own paper, orders went down the chain of command until they landed on the slot editor, who would usually dole out the task of

Calling the wire service and requesting (if that's the right word) a story per contract. Wire service people hate it, newsroom sloggers hate it, and that is how the name Paul Harvey feels like a morning after too much Mexican food, for some .... that's the other part of the story!

I hope that you and the cat get along.

What occurs to me, in greater part because of @Fat Freddy and the bespoke Fat Freddy's Cat strap he uses, an Odin pickguard from the same folks at Moxie & Oliver might be in order. :woot:

Much bummers, I thought they made good on it ...

seems all fitting to have a standard poodle see to it the cat knows his place under my thumb
I've always felt that cats and small children provided indisputable empirical evidence that even under the most highly regimented/rigorously controlled situations one can contrive, living creatures will most often do as they darn well please. As always, YMMV...but likely not by much!

I remember a saying I've heard over the years. You can train a dog to do something, but you can only train a cat NOT to do something only while you're in the room!

The deer trail above my office window goes up a pretty steep hill, and I don't know where it leads. Where the deer go is to a feeder the neighbor to the south east keeps. All the deer families trot by Odin's yard on their way to Deer Golden Corral.

It's minus 4 C and Odin's not the least bit bothered so long as he can sit outside and watch the deer. He is a hound.

My car said -6C, with the windchill it’s more than double that. A cold damp day.

I made the mistake of going out later today. Got stuck behind several school buses on side roads. Passing isn’t allowed when their lights are flashing and the bus stops at every house.
School buses on Sunday? ?

Other kids have a covid school schedule. They alternate two and three day weeks with internet classes on home days. There are undoubtedly kids with doctor’s notes that allow some to stay home every day and attend school just online.

I hear a lot of complaints where the online teachers aren’t offering much in the way of instruction. A lot of time is spent one-on-one reviewing assignments while everyone else just sits there. Students complain that it’s difficult to focus at home with all the distractions. Not a surprise. I’m sure that allowances are made and nobody fails.
