The wife just said we watched it...hmm.
Speaking of off... We watched "Heavy Metal" the other night. It's an animated surreal science fiction fantasy sort of thing with music and lots of gratuitous cartoon sex stuff. We're not sure what we saw. It was kinda like road kill - you don't want to look but you do anyway.

TV and bluray player are 7 yrs old. There was a 3D version of the player for about 25 bucks more and the TV supported it. Best 25 I didn't spend since there is no 3D stuff.
HT receiver is about 18 yrs old. The only thing it doesn't do is HDMI switching and that's not a big deal. Sounds great, never had a minutes problem with it. I'll replace it when it dies.
Have to mow grass today. With all the rain and being gone last week it's up pretty good. The sides and the back yard will be more like bailing hay. I'll have to use the bag on the mower. And it's in the mid-80s and humid!
I agree. You can also add REO Speedwagon (High Infidelity), Doobie Brothers (w/Michael McDonald), and Journey Escape (w/Jonathan Cain) to that list. This is a major reason my R&R record collection does not include anything from the early 80's on...

3D does seem to be phasing out of TVs now, but I enjoyed it for a few years. Still occasionally put a non-3D Blu-ray in the 3D player & TV and enjoy it in 3D. Not quite as good as a made-for-3D Blu-ray, but pretty dang good! My favorite is "A Hard Day's Night"! Still glad I got that player & TV.

Yeah mine grows like weeds, too. Which is what most of it is.
If I dont chop it every weekend in the rainy spring season, I have great troubles finding the mower the following weekend.
At least I get a good workout pushing that thing and emptying the bag. For free!
In general lower resolution conversion to 4K on my set (Samsung 2021 QN90A Neo 4K Smart QLED) is very good. How well it works depends on the TV and the resolution of the film. Some old movies look fuzzy, they must be really low rez to begin with. Other old movies are very good. My cable box is not 4K, I have an older one that does HD and lower SD. Old movies streamed at 4K are way better. Still trying to figure this all out though.
Blu-ray? what is this of which you speak?
My TV is a 32" that I got at Costco five years ago. I rarely remember that it exists. I have Roku to go with it.
My current DVD player is an ancient Sony that works reliably. It replaced a slightly-less-ancient Panasonic that was so slow to respond to any input (remote or on unit) that it was impossible to tell if/when it was going to do anything.
My laptop is 11 years old. The chromebook I'm typing this on is five years old. Yes, I have to hand crank it on cold mornings.

This year is particularly bad, weeds are growing like mad. The grass is normally cut once a week, after a couple of days it looks like it wants cutting again. Pollen levels continue at the highest warning level. There's a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect, not a dark cloud in the sky though.

I like getting my money's worth out of things. I take care of everything so it lasts even longer.
My biggest issue with computers is when work related programs that I use are no longer supported on that model. That's when I know I have to upgrade.
My interweb and cable TV are from the same company. If I were to go 'cafeteria' for the TV part, it would cost even more. Might change one day, but the service is pretty decent. And like many GOF's, change is considered a PITA.

For my own purposes, I could happily do most things I enjoy on a 10 year old computer.
Trouble is, my day job is features training and IT support for a small veterinary software company. Dual platform, Mac and Windows. I've been doing this for the last 10 years, and over the last 5 years or so, annual OS updates on the Mac side have been giving me a massive compatibility wedgie.
For a given version of our database engine, many of our clients are down to a two or three year span, in terms of which version of OS X or MacOS will run their software package.
I've taken to running old operating systems as virtual machines in VMWare. Otherwise, I'd need 3 or 4 Macs plus a Windows computer at my desk, just to do features support....
