Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

OK , no grumps for a couple days now so it's time to let loose. It's been well below freezing here for several days now and this comes after about 4 inches of snow. Anyway , my back door out of the basement (and rear of my roof) faces south so there's been some sun and melting back there. There's a big tree in the neighbors yard so the sun only hits my roof and gutter. Snow on the roof melted from the sun , went down the gutter and refroze in the bottom of the downspout. No water can get out of the downspout now so any other stuff that melted from the sun on the rood just goes over the edge of the gutters now. Well , a bunch of it landed on my back landing by the back door and now I can't get the darn door open. There's 2 inches of ice in the way. I hope some kids come on my lawn soon so I can grab them , turn them upside down and use their heads to break up the ice.Until that time I remain , trapped in the basement.(The old lady locked the door from the basement to the house , says I'm, too grumpy to deal with. Sheeeeesh.A grumpy old fart just can't win.):eyebrow:

Now this will make you grumpy, although it is a good groove. The reason I play bass in the band I'm in is because the previous grumpy bass player (actually, a great bass player, jolly guy, and great to hang out with...but for purposes of this thread the prior grump) got sick and died unexpectedly.

We played Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" at his memorial service.

not always grumpy.

How's this for grumpy? I was thinking of having a plaque made with the following text and display it at all my band's future gigs.

“Here’s a request we have of our fellow musicians. Please do not come to our gigs and ask to get up and play. Come back when there is a jam session. When we gig, we need to work on our material as a band so we can grow and improve. Our time is precious. Do the work and get your own band. Then get your own gigs…just like we did. This applies to singers, too. And whatever you do, do NOT approach the club owner and have him or her ask us if you can get up and play. That is the ultimate mistake…even worse than walking in all big and bad with your instrument expecting to perform. Besides, getting up on stage with us isn’t going to advance your career. And we’re not overly concerned about advancing ours.”

Now we're gettin' our grump on. Oh yeah. ;)

Hey, blowinblue - love the bow tie! I have my own picture like that at that age, but with a flat-top blonde haircut! (Dad was in the Guard)

Love the sign -- although it makes me grumpy that I would have to leave it at home for the corporate and wedding gigs I do!

In my day (that sounds old doesn't it), a haircut used to cost $0.75. Nobody had to tip the barber. The shop was on the edge of a military base. Unfortunately, everyone got the same style of shearing. Fortunately, the 60's put an end to that.

The one bad thing about the 60's was when popsicles went up from five to six cents. It was quite a scandal at the time. That one event marked the beginning of the end.
