I ordered some unsoldering stuff from amazon at noon today. Tracking says on the truck for delivery two hours later. I'll believe it when the driver knocks at the door.

Just as soon an egg drop wonton soup, myself. What's here is leftover chicken and okra curry. Harissa and ravioli may look like an Italian dish, and I assure you it is not.

All manner of fancy ravioli in the supermarket freezer case. Lobster, wild mushroom, you know, all the nobby stuff in a pretty basic dish. People don't make whole meals out of pasta because they're rich. Most people's bodies can't defend themselves against long term carb sieges. That old man with one leg in the nursing home isn't there because he was a pirate.

A doc told me some time ago a Mediterranean diet was good for you. I said, "So...that's like lasagna and ravioli, right, since Italy is in the Mediterranean."

I could have ordered the sukiyaki with udon instead of the standard rice noodles. I love the flavor of udon but, lord, the carbs. Nope.

Is it served in a hot wok or is it acting as a bowl? Is the tofu flavored in any way?
It's in a bowl; it's a pot dish so they make it in a big vat in the kitchen and portion it out like this. The tofu just carries the flavor of the broth, which is the main reason for eating sukiyaki; the broth is delish!

This one had chicken in it too; I have also had their beef sukiyaki. Both are excellent.

I try to order food without salt and MSG but it’s difficult to get it that way.

How one eats is more important than what one eats, I find.

What I'm free to do here in the time of The Thing That's Still Going Around is eat a garlic bagel for breakfast before a meeting. That's not a good option at work without Zoom.

I told my dentist that the next time I come I'm eating garlic, oreos, and cheetos right before I get there.

My old neighbors named their dogs Suki and Yaki.
... but my father named the cats Simon & Schuster so
got nothing to plead.
Tsuneyuki Yamamoto had (maybe still does, I don't know) a Corgi name Sukuyaki. This was no "standard" Corgi, he was more like a hybrid between a Corgi and an Australian Shepherd.

...fake milk.
Is that suitable for making milk paint? A friend wants to know.

...pastitsio. (Greek lasagna)
Had that a few weeks ago at the Greek Festival.

Those people eat about a billion times more healthy than we do in the States. The obesity rate of Italians is miniscule compared to the USA.
Except for those aforementioned (a few pages ago) opera singers, right? :D

It’s different for everyone. I managed to lose 20 pounds in the past year by still eating whatever I wanted but critically in smaller quantities. And no snacking in between meals. Whole foods only. Home cooking. Balanced meals. It helps I’m a chef. It took a lot of discipline.

Then I put back half by binging when I had a bout with sinusitis this summer. Getting back on track now.

I was in Milan for 16 days. I took my immersion cooker with me and cooked in my room. What is conspicuously absent in their grocery stores and in their food period is processed flour and sugar.

Yea, lost 3 kg in a week a few weeks back. Wasn't intentional.

Used a teabag today. Not to make tea, but to repair a nail. Tore the nail of the thumb of my right hand, where I mute. Changed the angle of my plucking hand as a consequence. Probably better.

Just following a thought with @mikeoso
... retirement means to me time to take care of myself. My colleague wants to talk again, and I know her. She is like a dog with a bone when she's on to something. Hey, maybe a movie one day.
