If this was 2012 I imagine people would have been crediting the Mayans with pretty much nailing it in th prophesy department.He is fine, just in a smokier area than I am. No danger.

It's unbelievable how many areas around the world, not just in the US are in ruins by either war or natural disasters. I can't even begin to imagine how desperate a person would feel to be in the middle of some of those messes.He is fine, just in a smokier area than I am. No danger.

We had a similar thing here earlier this year. British Columbia was on fire and we in Ontario were being drowned!
What has happened to the weather modification satellites that’s what I want to know?

Yeah, when we were cloud seeding by airplane in the 60's we didn't have these kinds of problems!

I think recall reading that someone like a power company out in Idaho still does it to increase mountain snowfall. This in turn provides a higher amount of available run-off for hydroelectric power generation...essentially they were manipulating the weather to create and store potential energy in the form of frozen water, at a high elevation. Seems like an interesting idea, although it's a bit disconcerting given how well our historic attempts to affect or re-arrange the earth on a large scale usually work out.A little known fact: there was a lot of cloud seeding from 2001-2008. I was sweating my bag off today, while talking to a friend in Calgary who was freezing...
Calgary was one of my favorite stops on our tours in Alberta and B.C.............
Just got back from the ear/nose/throat doctor (family friend). Acute otitis media. Middle ear infection, acute. Not cute. I'm 100% deaf in my left ear above about 600 Hz. Below that is about -20db. My right ear is lost about 40%. I guess it's fairly rare in adults. He gave me strong antibiotic and steroids. If it doesn't work he will puncture my eardrum to drain it.
So I'm in the middle of recording and mixing down tracks for my latest tune for my buddy's little "record" company. I tried on the headphones today in my little home studio and got a glimpse into Brian Wilson's world. Holy crap!
My fingers are crossed and prayers said.

Oh man. I still remember my last PAINFUL ear infection when I was fourteen years old. I was SO glad when that thing drained!!!

Experienced that when I was very young, hurt like hell. Had a tube through my ear drum, it drained and all was eventually good.

Thanks for everyone's concern. It kind of blindsided me. I'm over here having fun with my studio in my retirement and this has scared the crap out of me. My brother (non musician) has pretty severe hearing loss I think from noise exposure and old age - he's eleven years older. So I know hearing loss can get ugly.
My research indicates that acute middle ear infections are fairly rare in adults, but here in the boonies of the Philippines I do get exposed to things like swimming or bathing in questionable water. And looking back, this might have been incubating in my head for a while.
One good thing about surviving to my age after very "adventurous" younger years is knowing that these challenges are really just another part of the big adventure. This lifestyle is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Wow, that sounds like a painful drag! Hope the meds knock it down and you feel better and get your hearing back really quick. Certainly hope they don't have to puncture an ear drum. Worst ear problem I used to have was waxy buildup and that went away on its own.
Praying and pulling for you brother Brian! My wife gets that all the time. She has a very small ear canal which makes it more likely for her to have trouble with her inner and middle ears. She's had 4 or 5 surgeries over the years, including a replacement ear drum, kind of like a new driver for your cab. She's got a small hole in the other ear drum now, and we're going to have that worked on in October. It's been there for a year, but last visit he said it was getting larger rather than going away as he had hoped. Meanwhile the non-OEM ear drum is getting toot hick, but still working well, so leaving that one alone for now. He can just skim some speaker cone off with a laser if it starts getting thick enough to decrease her hearing. She probably spends 3 or 4 months a year with one, the other or both infected. Auto-immune problems, so we never really know if it's her immune system eating at her ears or infection. Immune system attacks her eyes some too, now that get scary. She has steroid ear drops always on hand for that. If she thinks she as it, one dose right away, call the doc, he has us meet him in an hour regardless of time or day, and verifies so she can continue the drops or eliminates so she has to stop the drops. I don't think she will ever get better living here... good chance she will in the Philippines, which we keep thinking sooner than later.

I clicked "Like" but in reality, I far from like this. There should be a "Empithize" button. I hope you get it back. From someone who's been wearing aids for the last 8 years, it sucks being a musician and hear (not) your audible range dwindle away is like being buried alive. I quit trying to mix anything when I placed a shaker so far out front on a track it was unreal. Luckily, I'm playing with people that value reasonable stage volume and I always wear plugs to salvage what little is left.
Thank goodness yours is an infection rather than permanent nerve damage, so far. Good luck to you.
