I'm ten years your senior Basscapes but I can take you under my wing on this club.
Well, I may have to step back a bit. But then again, maybe not.

I actually let drivers pass and change lanes in front of me this morning on the way to the Day Job...

In my defense, I did have Shellac's "In Action Park" just cranking on the CD player!

Your call on this! LOL

...if only you'd have said you were listening to Blue Cheer on your 8 Track, Paul might have softened up on the age requirement deal... :)

8 Track???

I still listen to them on vinyl, at home, LOUD!
Like my old ties (narrow or wide depending on the year), vinyl seems to be back in vogue. I myself still own a Luxman cassette deck and a Yamaha turntable so I can continue to enjoy the old songs in their intended format.

Blue Cheer guitarist Gary Yoder is a good friend of mine. We were recently part of a documentary about a club that we both worked at back in the early 1980's, and he has been using PA's I built for him for at least 25 years. He's a local and I see him often.

I never gave up on LPs! so I LUCKILY have most of the albums I started collecting back in the early 80's as a teen (save for a few turds in the early 90's that my then girlfriend convinced me to buy or trade off).

Luckily (as well!), that my uncle was a devout audiophile at the time, and taught me a LOT about handling and storage. So, things like my copy of Blue Cheer's "Vincebus Eruptum", while not an original pressing, are in incredibly good shape!

In that case I hereby nominate you for full membership as an honorary GOF! You obviously have the questionable class and bizarre taste that dooms you to this dark corner of humanity.

I still have my old DiscWasher cleaning brushes and fluids sitting beside my turntable...all mid to late 1970's vintage. If you kept things clean (records and stylus) and stored albums (and 45's) properly, they can last a long time...at least mine have.

From the Prospective Grumpy Old Man to kids and others- "get away from my turntable and don't touch my bass or the records!"

I posted this in another thread, but it was so good I thought I'd share this with my fellow GOF's as a refresher.

#1. Fine. This is the word used to end an argument when she is right and you better shut up. Don’t even say another word!

#2. Nothing. If you ask her what’s wrong and she says nothing, then something is definitely wrong. Stay on your toes. Many arguments can start over “nothing” and then end with “fine.” Refer to #1.

Note: If she says “no really, there’s nothing wrong” then she really means there’s nothing wrong.

#3. Loud sigh. This is a non-verbal hint that you are being an idiot and she’s wondering why you are wasting time standing there and arguing about “nothing.” Refer to #2.

#4. Go ahead. This is like a double dare and it’s definitely not permission. She wants you to make the right decision, so rethink what you are about to do!

#5. Don’t worry about it, I got it. This means she’s asked you to do something several times and you didn’t so now she’s doing it herself. Uh-oh! This may result in you asking her later “what’s wrong” to which she will most likely respond “nothing.” Refer to #2.

#6. That’s okay. This is a very dangerous warning signal. She’s will be thinking long and hard about how you will pay for what you did.

#7. Five minutes. If she is getting ready this could mean 15-40 minutes, results may vary. But if you are watching the game, 5 minutes is exactly 300 seconds.

#8. Whatever. This means go to hell. You’re in big trouble! You may even feel a chill in the air.

#9. Thanks. She is thanking you. Don’t even question it, just say you’re welcome. But if she says “thanks A LOT” then that’s meant as sarcasm and you should definitely not say “you’re welcome” then she will reply with “whatever.” Refer to #8.

Okay now translate this: “Fine, whatever, go ahead and watch on the game for another five minutes, don’t worry about it, I’ll take out the trash.”

:bag: :help:
