A small group wants you to conform to their vision.

I think that too much attention is afforded to vocal professional progressives that want to social engineer society. A society that’s in a declining state, with crowd driven social media pushing to dictate how everyone else should lead their lifes.

I was at a crowded street fair yesterday evening. There was one group of university aged girls after the next, off in the fringes, glued to their phones and taking pictures of one another, over and over, in every combination. When they come out of an ice cream place, the first thing that they have to do is stand blocking the door while they take photos of their cones against the wall. Then selfies of them holding their cones. In restaurants, when food is presented, it can’t be eaten until they grab an image. Of course, drawing the wanted attention to themselves.

They don’t seem to know how to take the time to look around and enjoy the moment. They’re just fixated on electronically documenting every aspect of their lives.

As it's Friday, GOF's I'm thankful to be alive today and have you as my online chat buddies.

So, ROLL CALL! Calling all GOF's. Please count all fingers and toes-- accounted for. OOPS, FORGOT THUMBS!!! :p

Who has exciting plans for the weekend? On my part, friend Bob got his hip replacement and he's home recuperating. I'm going to give him a basketball today! It's amazing that in our little town, Sitka, Alaska, a bone replacement surgeon flew in from Seattle, and Bob was in the hospital overnight, by morning, 6:00am he was prepped and before noon had a new hip. I asked him if he was going to set off TSA alarms now at the airport! A bunch of us are going to drop over tomorrow and bring musical gear and jam a little.

And play some hoops ??

Last night I made pizza dough for tonight.

Up at 5AM to get to a market to buy a years worth of organic rhubarb. We cook it and freeze it in ziploc bags. My wife has it with vanilla yogurt every morning. Then out of the city and off to the country.

The car has been running hot. Tonight I have to flush and refill the radiator and resovoir. Then recharge the air conditioner.

Yo Lefty,

Worked my last open mike for at least a while at the redneck sushi joint. Starting it at 6PM with a room full of innocent diners always seemed a bit goofy and I guess I'll just have to ramp up my napping schedule so I can do a few "real" gigs here and there this summer in lieu of this one.

I was going to start a fun thread about things that bug you about bar gigs, but I guess I'll just write about my fave that annoys me. Why do bar patrons, sometimes people that know you quite well, or the band, come up to you before you've obviously haven't started yet, and ask you, " Hey, what time are you guys gonna start " ? I mean, do they have some other place to go right away, or, if you don't start soon, they're going to leave ? Are they worried you're just gonna sit around the bar all night and not play ? I assume they are there for a night's worth of entertainment, or at least a set's worth, so why the need to know when we start ? Does this bug anyone else but me ?

I don’t like anyone talking to me before a gig starts. Especially if I’m busy in the bathroom. I have to check that I remembered to put on my pants. That they’re zipped up. There’s a mental checklist. Not to mention the superstitions to contend with.

I think that the best answer to your question is, We go on when the bar owner says to. If it’s the bar owner asking, the answer is, When we get our money.

That was going to be my second thing that bugs me, namely, people who ask you dumb things when you are on a break, like, after playing a set of Chicago Blues, they ask you if you do any stuff by Sting.

I would be doing the same thing, except I realize that for every 8 hours of video I take of myself, I’d need another 8 hours just to watch it, and I don’t have that much extra time left.

All appendages (or what's left of them) accounted for. Second consecutive Friday with a gig then work the night shift... I'm getting too old for this stuff...
I'm getting too old for a lot of stuff, but like you, I'm not letting it stop me....slow me down an almost noticeable amount perhaps, but not not stop me. :)
