Actually the rations I ate in the Army were in cans and heated in garbage cans full of water. But they were really delicious. Still remember trading cigarettes for candy since I didn't smoke...
LOL We always carried extra TP in the APC!Nobody traded for extra toilet paper? I supppse that nature provides alternative solutions. As long as you don’t use poison ivy or something similar.

Amen, bro. Will! Just everything you said. A-totally-men!Hello, GOF's. I've been really low-key just taking care of Carey this weekend. We didn't answer the phone, just took it easy. Carey got her drain tube out last Wednesday and she's slowly getting back into the swing of life. It's still a slow process but she's definitely got her humor and sharp wit back.
The crispness in the morning air indicates it's fall time in Sitka. Lots of leaves on the parking lot at work in many colors. I love this time of year. Love a light breeze on my face when it's cool-crisp. I've realized my world isn't right when my bride's world isn't right.
Good news from bro Bad @BadExample 's mom. Hope she continues to get better my comrade. No fun sitting in hospitals but the end results make it worth it. Funny side note. I called my friend and told him about a good dinner I had in the hospital and he told me the first warning sign of being in hospitals too much is when you start liking the food!![]()
My SO's father ate mutton on a regular basis when he was stationed in the South Pacific.
Peameal bacon, eggsies and chips tonight. Exactly the same as last night. And why not?![]()
I think he knew exactly what he was eating but had no other options to choose from..................Ah but! Was it Mutton dressed up as Lamb??
Hey, I think John Hiatt's been lurking in this thread and wrote a song about it!
I bet it was originally called "Old Bassists", but the record company wanted him to change the lyrics to make it more generic. If you substitute "Bassists" for "People" the lyrics work even better.
Since there are issues playing copyrighted youtube videos, here are the lyrics:
"Old People"
Old people are pushy
They don't have much time
They'll shove you at the coffee shop
Cut ahead in the buffet line
They'll buy two for a dollar and 50
Then they'll argue with the checkout girl
They've lived so much behind them
They're tryin' to slow down this god damn world
Old people are pushy
Well, they're not mushy
Old people are pushy cause life ain't cushy
Old people are pushy
They'll drive how they want to drive
And go as slow as they want to
They don't care who stays alive
And they'll kiss that little grand baby
Up and down the back and all around the front
They don't care what you think of them
That baby has got something that they want
Old people are pushy, well they're not mushy
Old people are pushy, cause life ain't cushy
(Old people are pushy, they aren't mushy)
(Old people are pushy, cause life ain't cushy)
Old people are pushy, cause you don't know how they feel
And when you pretend you do
Well they know it's not real
Pretty soon it's gonna be all over
Good enough reason not to let you pass
They done seem like sweet, little old people
But they are not about to kiss your ass
Old people are pushy, well they're not mushy
Old people are pushy, cause life ain't cushy
Old people are pushy, (old people are pushy)
Old people are pushy, (old people are pushy)
Old people are pushy, (old people are pushy)
'Cause life ain't cushy
Old people are pushy,
Old people are pushy
Old people are pushy
Cause life ain't cushy.
3 weekends gone hunting moose. Shot one pin-head, our team now has bagged a total of 3 adult and 5 calf moose. Somehow nobody else brings their dogs but I. So I get to trample over the terrain. There has been a light snow/frost cover, so the tracks can be seen easily. My 1-year-old female kishu tracked her first moose to the stands yesterday. I am so proud. But I can feel the strain of the hunt in my bones.
