Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I play for two bands. One of them still does the standard 4 hour bar gigs which I can get through with the help of a couple of aspirin. The other band leader has the presence of mind (and some health issues) to not book anything more than three hours. I find this preferable. He called a couple of weeks ago and asked if we could do an afternoon gig that would run about 2 1/2 hours for better than normal pay. I jumped on it. "Sure" I said. "Sounds great." Went downstairs to put it on the calendar and realized that I had forgotten that the other band was already booked that night. Hmmmm , 62 years old and my 8 10 rig and I are booked for 7 hours and two moves in one day. How does that old saying go? What doesn't kill you leaves you breathless and panting in a ditch on the side of the road?
If I survive all this , the bright side is I leave for vacation the day after. If I don't survive it , at least the second gig is known for having a lot of boobies flashing.

I find that it helps with fatigue due to swollen leg veins that you can get when standing a lot, to wear knee high support socks and shoes with good support. For the socks, I use travel socks that help avoid blood clots when traveling. They sell them in sock departments in stores like Sears. Sigh!

Help me through this, guys. After a lifetime trying not to grow up and be like grandpa, I'm reading about designer compression hosiery or shin pantyhose. Next, we'll start debating Metamucil vs. Citrical. And if we go over proper use of Depends, I may have to take myself out.

One the bright side, it's all good info that works for old folks. Just don't want my kids laughing if they catch me...and the wife saying I told you so.

Hey, all you grumpsters. A year ago I purchased the domain name Link Removed through HostBaby. It was a joke between my keyboard player and myself. He doesn't want it. I don't really need it. It's there for the taking. Thought I'd put it out on TB to give you grumps a leg up. And I know at your age any sort of 'up' is helpful.

M. M. :)

I hope the guy enjoys it. Nowadays, Dad puts a ring in his nose when his daughter reaches twelve so he can be led around around. Hasn't been the same since we started taking GI Joes away from little boys. And don't get me started on bike helmets, umbrellas, sun screen, and Neosporin for boys.

#95 checking in also…
Gemini power rising! {By the way, ever notice that the NASA astronauts and nerds on the ground (Houston) always pronounced Gemini as "Jiminy." (like Jiminy Cricket)? When you wish upon a star….
Now, about the fnord:
This biological carbon based life form is reputed to have emerged from a homo sapien's vagina mid morning June 7th (too damn early for me). The general consensus was that the wriggling, screaming pink thing struck his father visually as, "8 pounds of nose and balls."
Don't ask my age because I'm shy about my relative youth to grumpy ratio. Marmaduke kills on, and has taken on a more Kingly personna in the Richard, LA crawfish commonwealth. Alas! his girlfriend is gone! (perhaps due to neighbors calling the dog catcher, or even more devious plots!), but there are many canine companions for him to protect and serve.
Since this is an amp thread: I have a lovely Peavey Mark IV that I let get naughty and bi-amp with my qsc. Recently shielded my basses and love the NONOISE I get; put some Duncan sb1's in my MN4 P bass (me like).

Actually, I just drove by some guy walking his dog and his daughter. Both of them on a leash.

Yes, the kid in some sort of harness with a leash. Who does stuff like this?

This society is surely going to hell.

OK. I used to think that until I became a full time Mr. Mom. I mean, I never did out my kids on a leash. But man, I suuuuure wanted to many, many times!

That is NOT a Grumpy Old Farts state of mind. It's teaming with positivity and a lust for life, two things I can only take in very small doses. Shame on you.

When you've lived through life threatening situations, everything else becomes easy. Sometimes it's hard to be grumpy. I'm happy just to be alive.

I'll have to try harder to get my grump on. [Good line for a song. :) ]
