Gibson 2019...seriously?

Gibson's cluster was happening long before 2015 and on into this year until Juszkiewicz was dismissed. The new crew should test waters and see where the market takes them. I own zero Gibson instruments and will buy zero more, but I think change is a good thing.
My guess is that they look better in person than in the photo (there's a lack of gloss in the photos due to the lighting that throws off the look, especially for the pastels).
I think that custom-painted or custom-printed pickguards would look great on these (especially with the new color options), but the tort is just, blugh. It's like taking a Lamborghini and trying to put wood panels on it. Like a sad Lamborghini PT Cruiser. Hope they have non-tort options!
Love SGs, though! Always thought the guitars looked awesome.

I have a 2012 SG Standard, 2017 J45 Standard and 2012 Advanced Jumbo, and all are exceptional instruments, all bought used. I have no interest in Gibson basses.
Well I was simply talking the use of pastel colors, not that Gibson has come up with this as an original idea. It may have nothing to do with the why. I simply posed it after reading about the Fender study.
I dig the olive green and in fact had a green SG at some point. SG + Orange amp is the tone I like on guitar. The RD Bass is sweet, but Gibsons just aren't doing it for me with Basses or Guitars actually. I love the tone, but I prefer the ergonomics of Fender like guitars somehow.

A good number of people here said they liked they the new colors. They have not said they have terrible taste in colors. So how does that imply women have horrid taste in colors regardless of the number of women buying guitars

I was referring to OP's disdain for the colors, and his association with a wider female customer base--not my own assessment.

Haha. If I was there we would have the Grabber G1 back in production in all them cool colors.
I have a Gibson SG in Cherry so I have an opinion.
I'd take a bass in any of those colors, including the yellow. I'd probably get a custom color guard, though. Most of those colors with a mint guard would look great. I'd be curious to see if the nitro shades a bit.
I do think Gibson needs to keep it up with the color palette, test the waters, see what sells.

I'd move for the Victory Classic, the Ripper and the G3 - in their original electronics configurations. And doing them in a classic Gibson cherry-burst for extra credit.

Tort looks super ugly on pastel colors, no matter what brand it is.
I don't mind pink, but to me it does not go well with rosewood fb. Looks much better with maple, or ebony. Not brown.
A pink SG with maple board and block inlay would be awesome.
It's hard to really tell what the colors actually are on most LCD monitors. What you're seeing is in the ballpark but in-person those shades may look much different.

In the old days I'd say: I seriously doubt it.
With the new regime I'd say: hope springs eternal. And FWIW I suspect they're seriously listening to everybody right now.
If they are listening I want a medium scale, semi-hollow bass, Pelham blue, 4x4 w/full size tuners, floating bridge, pickup setup like the SG or Rumblekat, and I want it to be around $1400 or less.
Or just give me a P Bass copy in Pelham Blue with a nitro mint guard.
