Gibson 2019...seriously?

It was a Fender study. I don't know how many of them are buying electrics, though. I would guess very few, based on how many I actually have encountered in the past year.

Still looking for the citation or article; oh wait, here it is:

Fender Study Finds Half of New Guitarists Are Women – Rolling Stone

(October 2018)

Study is UK-specific, but consistent with US sales and demographic data. (The article referring to the study linked above only refers to "guitar" but does not discuss "bass guitar" specifically.)

My guitar collection colors have always consisted of black, charcoal, white and natural or tobacco. I only strayed in the mid 90s with a British racing green Ibanez s470 that just looked unbelievable on the wall. I recently purchased a 6 string epiphone sl LP last year for my daughter in turquoise which she ended up painting her entire room turquoise soon after so I get the appeal. I surprised myself a week ago when I purchased a new ocean turquoise fender elite p bass when I had my heart set on a white bass. Something about these bright and pastel colors that just grab you regardless of body shape

Hey, these seem to be limited run instruments offered exclusively through Chicago Music Exchange... not the "new SG line".

Damn jd, you are a tough cookie! Why so critical anyway? Whether these colors are cool or not is purely a matter of preference.

Mere levity on a board that welcomes it every day.
I like all those new colours. Are Gibson making any basses at all in 2019?
Gibson for 2019 is offering the SG in Ebony and Heritage Cherry, the Thunderbird in Vintage Sunburst and Heritage Cherry Burst...they dropped the Bright Cherry, and the EB in Natural Satin and Wine Red...4- and 5-string versions.

Sweetwater has or just had a 2019 SG , it doesn't has a Babicz , odd right

Depends on your opinion of Babicz bridges. To me they're over designed and vastly overhyped. But regardless of what I may think, by precisely knowing the specs on each of their own instruments, Gibson doesn't need the range of adjustments a 3rd-party bridge needs since those are designed to be a 'one size fits all' piece of hardware. So a bridge designed and made by Gibson for its own instruments makes far more sense.

Has no-one heard of TV yellow? It's a classic color, especially for those who can remember television before color television...

Btw I am of course way too young to remember it first time round.

It's the yellow with the tort (and every other of the new colors with tort) that looks hideous. They would look much better if they ditched the tort guards and went with either black, white or cream color guards for those new colors.

Yes it's yet another Let's Knock Gibson thread, first of 2019?

I love those colours, particularly the greens and the yellow (isn't that much like TV yellow?).
A thread posting mere observations isn't necessarily a "Let's knock Gibson" thread, especially from someone who actually likes Gibsons.
We're talking about mere esthetics here on a board where functionality is often cited as far more important than looks.
