Gibson... again...

Just think about how many school music programs could have benefitted from these instruments. This is just the worst aspect of capitalism.

Well, maybe. However, under the "alternative" guitar manufacturing system, the POS is manufactured in a factory where they pretend to pay the employees who are pretending to work (i.e., "they pretend to pay us, we pretend to work"), and you will like the product. Or else! Then you go to the illegal ("underground") marketplace to see if you can find some semi-fresh vegetables. Good luck with that. Which, of course, begs the question: What are the best semi-fresh vegetables for Metal?

Not just a product - it is taking valuable resources and just throwing them away. I find this practice criminal and destructive to our dying planet.

I know what your trying to say about the planet. But rigorously speaking, the planet is not dying. I's fine, and will continue to be fine for the foreseeable future.

Now, the long-term effects on all life forms living on the planet from radioisotopes we have already released into the environment, that's another story, entirely. Maybe that's why all of a sudden the government is talking up the idea of putting human beings on Mars, of all things. Which, of course, begs the question: What is the best bass for Mars?

How do you feel about taggers who deface buildings with spray painted graffiti of say, wooly wittle sheeps? Would it be an affront to our dying planet, or a way for the disenfranchised to rise up against the worst aspects of capitalism? In your view, hopefully they stole the spray paint just to stick it to the man!

...and it's gone.

The original video posted to BJ's World has been pulled.

I suspect BJ was reminded about the non-disclosure agreements he (likely) signed but neglected to read while employed by Gibson.

The second video is also gone.

Somehow I was expecting this to happen. :meh:

And/or they (Gibson's lawyers) could have had them taken down by YouTube.

They're floundering on the rocky crags of cruel fate. If Gibson had handled this right, they could have done something beneficial for themselves with it. But no. The more they do, the worse it seems to get for them. Sad.

Maybe Yamaha will acquire Gibson when the price is right. Might not be too long.

Yea - I guess we all have our hypocricies. I would encourage street artists to use non toxic paints - if they would listen. Doesn't mean I cant enjoy street art & grafitti. But cutting down rosewood trees, ebony trees, ash trees to make instruments that are distroyed so as they don't hit the second hand market - it pisses me off. It is BS. Clothes manufacturers do it too. The world is going to poopie and this is one of the reasons why. F$%* Gibson.

BTW - I would never use the word poopie - that is admin.

Last Sunday, I was in GC and had a chat with manager. I was looking to see and try Gibson Junior bass... He said: "I don't remember when we got something from Gibson... probably, more than year or two..."
About short scale basses, he said just Mustang goes really well...

Proper forest management ensures there will be more trees. It's not like they don't grow back. It's a renewable resource.

There was quite a push back by the "tree huggers" against Weyerhaeuser Corp. a few decades ago. The tree huggers were protesting clear cutting practices employed by Weyerhaeuser that destroy forests thereby ending the possibility of re-growth. Protesters were set up (framed) and prosecuted for crimes they didn't commit, and were sent to prison. One protester lost their life. In the end the truth came out, and thanks to the tree huggers, the practice of clear cutting has to the best of my knowledge been abandoned here in the US. So sometimes (occasionally), our legal system does work. That's better than the accused being considered guilty retroactively until proven innocent. Yes?

Super weird. I wonder if this is what "working with" Gibson looks like.

Window dressing. They’re trying to present the court with a fiat accompli.

Haven’t listened to the video or seen tge news item yet. But I’m guessing Gibson will attempt to argue that there is already broad acceptance in the industry of the validity of Gibson's trademark claims as evidenced by small companies such as Echo Park already signing licensing agreements with Gibson for the disputed body shapes and publicly stating support for Gibson’s contentions.

The law doesn’t work like that. I’m guessing they’re mostly trying to save face, possibly hoping to bully more settlements out of other small companies, and leave the door open for an appeal when they lose. Again.
