Gibson Grabber/Ripper/G-3 club

http://www.flyguitars.com/graphics/ripper-wiringBIG.jpg not the reissue but 78 ripper pulled from flyguitars, Original rotary 4 position switch, if you get a 6 position form all parts it'll look the same youll just have more options :D Cause i honestly don't believe that anyone who had a ripper saw the point of having the reissue (which relly is nothing like the original appart from looks) and those who wanted one, wanted a vintage one. Plus at that price tag i wouldn't see anyone buying the reissue. They've never come up on ebay, nor have i seen anyone on Talkbass with one. They might be out there, we just don't know.

The problem with tho old circuits is they do not offer the exact same switches anymore. This goes either for the 4-position L9-S switch or the L6-S guitar switch that had 6 positions.

I believe the wiring of mine is somehow wrong and therefor there is to little volume in all but one position of the installed switch that appears to be some probably japanese capsuled ceramic switch..

So I am looking to find a replacement for the switch first to see if this solves the problem before I consider to give the pickups to someone for a rewind or order a replacement at Seymour Duncan.

Anyone here with tech experience?

Hello,

I've been happy using Fender flats on my '74 Gibson Grabber but I'm curious about LaBella flats after enjoying them on another bass.

I suppose I'd go with the designated through-body set...

Just curious about anyones experiences using LaBella's 760FS on a Gibson Grabber.
Anyone have any experience with this combo?

Taper will make it past the nut?
Neck can handle the tension?
"Through-body" strings are just as well as the standard set?

It's a '74 based on the pot codes, and from what I've read there are less than 200 sunburst fretted Rippers out there (less than 2% of the 10,000 total Rippers made.) I've not seen another sunburst like mine, the others I've seen are more yellow with the black just around the edges. Mine isn't black at all, just brown. Reminds me of the Ric Autumglo finish in a way.

I'd love a # if you're still handing 'em out.

Dirnt used the G3 on Kerplunk and insomniac but on Dookie he rented a P-Bass. he said it in an interview from a 2012 issue of Bass Player Magazine, his G3 was messed up from touring so he rented an active p-bass (i THINK it was a precision plus), but he said that the way they used it was set to standard p-bass controls.

Yeah I heard he used an active PJ rented from SIR. I always wondered what colour/model it was. I'm just off for an image search! I'm also guessing he used the G3 on 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours.
