Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

Just got the Fusion yesterday. It sounds great through a Berg HT322. I'll try it through the GK NEO 112 II as well.
I am happy with the MB200 as my practice amp because it just sounds really good. The Fusion takes it a few steps further with many more options and a little more "life" in the tone. Looks like the Fusion 800 is next. Great stuff.

Very close to an SVT but more defined in the high mids i think. The dirty channel is great as well, or should i say channel B. (its my dirty channel) I just roll off the high mids quite a bit and cut the low mids just a smidge, i run it with the deep on, contour at 9 oclock at 800hz and bass and treble flat. Sounds wonderful.

I will say that at first it was a little ganky to me. But once i messed with the EQ I was right at home.

Reviving an old thread that hasn't seen action since June, and qouting a post from 2011. Yup, I am aware of both, but this past weekend, I didn't get my MB Fusion, but I finally got my MB Fusion where I want it to be, and I have this post to thank for it.

I got my Fusion 500 in late July when I was able to use a Guitar Center coupon. No one ever has any decent bass gear here, so I bought it sound unheard. I tried it out at home, but I never found "that" sound that I was looking for. I love a more vintage tone, I was trying to upgrade from a Bassman tube amp for increased clean headroom. But I also wanted to have more high end and more snap, which I thought the GK would give me. I never found a setting I liked and decided to return it.

Three weeks later, never got off my butt to return the head, decided to try again. I got a lot of good sounds, very powerful, clean headroom. But never a sound that made me say YES!!! That is until I found this post from Jheake. I looked at his settings as a jumping off point and quickly found the tweaking to give me the sound I was looking for from this amp. Lot's of Bass, even with a flat setting. nice punchy mids even with the contour up and the high and low mids cut a little (high mids were killing me with finger squeaks). Clean, warm, fat, punchy with just a hint of that growl and snap GK is known for. It makes me a much happier owner of this head unit. Like Jon, I don't know if I'll have it for the long haul, but for the time being I will use it and be quite happy with the tone I am getting.

fwiw:
I run mine with input lowish at about 10 oclock
treble at about 10 0clock
high and low mids at about 1 oclock
bass at about 10 oclock
master at about noon-2 oclock depending on volume needed

If I'm "playing a dull, lower output passive bass," I may use deep and/or bright;
or, If I'm playing at lower volumes and want a fuller sound, I may use deep.

I think I tried a similar setting, just wasn't what I was looking for. No doubt it sounded good, but overly bright for my tastes. For one, the last time I played it was on an active with rounds. if I don't tame the high-mids, the finger squeaks will make you deaf. LOL. Thank you for sharing though.

Also, my new Spector active must be pretty high output, I can barely use any gain on the A stage.

The GK clarity does make you work on technique. For me the settings can vary depending on what bass and cab I'm using with it. I used to own an 800RB back in the late 80's, a 1001RB about 10 years ago, and just recently picked up an MBF800. This Fusion 800 is my favorite of the bunch. Great form factor, control layout, headroom, and tone. I like the touch of roundness and harmonics the tube pre adds, the way the upper mids speak without gank, and the punch those low mids add. It seems to have a bit of its own character, which I like, and can really slam if you need it to. Quite pleased with it.

Depends on new vs old. The older ones are just the nylon skin with the rubberized back for water resistance. The newer ones (not sure of availability) ARE lightly padded, and seem a bit more durable to me as well. I had the newer style on my 212, and have them on my 115's. I did manage to get a couple of the 112 covers from the initial run, but then they were out of them, and I'm not sure of current availability, but check into it.

Depending on how you handle your cabs, the older skins are just fine, but the newer ones are very definitely nicer.
