It's not, and, it's not like the Walkabout, or the Streamliner even; which are more in line with "tube perception."

It's more like the tube preamp dulls some of the razor edge that the rest of the MB series amps have.

I agree with Chef, not a "tube" sound. I like the amp but dont love it. I was going to sell mine, but it is so small and light that I decided to just keep it as a backup in a laptop compartment of a backpack I use for my cables, etc ...

Played some more today, concentrating on channel A. Decided I like it with gain at noon. Just enough warmth, without getting into grind. I'm liking this head a lot now that I'm getting used to it.

Saturday night I'll get to try it out on a gig. We're opening for one of the guys from Little Feat. It's in a room that I know pretty well. I'll bring the 700RB for backup just in case.

I've had two rehearsals now with the MB Fusion. So far I really like it in the mix. My go-to settings are channel A, gain at noon, treble at 10:00, hi mids at noon, low mids at 2:00, and bass at 10:00, master wherever it needs to be to balance the band. This produces a warm, full and rich tone that really seems to support the band well. This is with a p bass with '62 reissue pickup, CTS pots, and medium gauge Chromes, and playing into my Carvin 112ag stack, in a pretty small rehearsal room. Tomorrow night will be the real test as I will have it out on a gig in a bigger room. So far though it's a winner.

Liking mine quite a lot. I would say tubey. Not the way my Music Man R100 is when pushed. None of that compression power tube 'sag' or grit. More in the tube mic preamp way. A little more 'air' around the notes, nicely defined but not aggressive highs. Very clear, still warm. For me a nice addition to the stable. It seems to fit way better than the Streamliner did. Can't wait to bust it out with the fearful on some louder gig's.

i LOVE my mb fusion and would not change it for the world. i use it with a mesa 1x15 and a tc electronics 2x10 for big gigs and just the tc for small gigs. some other bassists in my area have also gone fusion after hearing my set up. THANK YOU GK and TALKBASS. i like to read other folks impressions of this amp. mostly thumbs up.

Gig report:

Played tonight opening for Phil Brown, formerly of Little Feat. Played an hour and a half set straight through, no breaks. Two guitars, drums and bass. I was playing my P bass with '62 reissue pickup, CTS pots and medium gauge Chromes, into the MB Fusion on top of my Carvin 112ag stack. The band is blues with some pretty funky tunes mixed in.

I ended up with the settings mentioned above, Channel A, gain at noon, contour off, treble at 10:00, hi mids at noon, low mids at 2:00, and bass at 10:00. Master was at 9:00. This produced a great punchy full tone that really supported the band well. I didn't feel the need to deviate from these settings, as they just worked so well. Warmth, richness and punch. I loved it.

The other thing I loved was load in and load out. The fusion fits in my bass gig bag with all cables plus my tuner pedal. Bass and head in my back and a cab in each hand meant one trip each way. Sweet!

All in all a big success. Very happy.

There's something to this. As a WT-400 user for many years, the switch to the MB-Fusion was seamless. Not exactly the same, especially the EQ, but a similar voice using settings much like you describe (I like a tad more bass, like 11:00 or so). Through 2 Aggy DB-112's, ...couldn't be happier.

I know they only shipped out a small batch, but BassNW was supposed to get 2 I think. It has two channels with sepparate volumes and gains for each so you can overdrive one of the chanels and leave one for clean. It is one pound heavier than my MB2 at 4.5 LBS.
I will try to get a pic or two snapped in the next couple days.

i had an 8x8 on 2 separate occasions was it the prefender or postfender henry? love those cabs
