Somehow, I always fail to check whether something is filed under "bass humor". Hey, at least that got me thinking seriously about it and see an opportunity beyond the less than ideal production value of this track. Goth Reggae, hum....

Close enough.

Beat me to it!! David J was a big fan of dub and reggae music, you could hear that influence in lines like She's In Parties or Spirit. Never knew they did reggae tunes at shows though, that's pretty boss.

Seems to me there might be a few track on the Clash's Sandinista! album that could fall into the Goth Reggae bucket.. I always liked that album. One More Time in the Getto, The Crooked Beat. Meh, what do I know...? Man, is used to drink heavily to that album back in the day.

My faith in humanity just slipped another notch. The backing track, limp and phoned in, has a somewhat skanky feel, but those vocals are something else entirely.

Love a track that starts with a tired sigh. Also goth reggae has existed since goth existed. Bauhaus did a few reggae numbers in their sets.

Bela Lugosi's dead is essentially a dub reggae song. David j does a crap ton of reggae flavored bass lines all over the place. All on a fretless p. Delish.

I can see where the link exists between the two. I've got better things to do than listen to the stuff this guy might be trying. Like writing my own music which is heavily influenced by Bauhaus, Joy Division, early Cure and the like. It's actually kind of a dub, gothic sound. Never thought to name my own genre though.

That joke was a as weak as that track, but I gotta give it to the guy for seeing a window of opportunity to create a new genre and going for it. They're getting hard to come by.

I once tried to mix jug band music and djent. It was worse.

I'd like to hear what you guys got going, as we get similar comparisons and have influences of same. Somebody coined 'Lynchian goth twang' & it stuck for awhile .
