Greatest lost Bands that deserved better

Big Wreck -- Ghosts
Balance was an early 1980s Rock / Hard Rock band based out of New York City and fronted by Illinois native, Peppy Castro, formerly of Blues Magoos. Other original members included guitarist Invalid Link Removed (from lots of projects) and arranger/keyboardist Doug Katsaros. Following the recording of their self-titled debut album with session musicians. Andy Newmark was the original drummer and later replaced by Gregg Gerson. Gregg later departed to play with Billy Idol. Balance added the rhythm section of drummer Chuck Burgi (ex-Brand X) and bassist Dennis Feldman (ex-Speedway Blvd.) to the lineup.
Big Wreck! Albatross is my favorite rock album of the last few years. Ghosts is good as well. Definitely worth checking out.

The Michael Stanley Band did very well in the U.S. Midwest and also had a few national hit singles. However, they never quite got the fame they deserved.
I think the Band "Death" (African-American Proto-Punk/Rock Band Not The Heavy Metal Group) deserves better. I mean if you watch their documentary, it makes you wonder what would've happened if they were given the credit they deserved.

I downloaded "He Can't Love You" a while ago after hearing it on Sirius' Classic Rewind channel. Great song!
Armageddon - drummer Bobby Caldwell (previously a member of Captain Beyond), singer Keith Relf (formerly of The Invalid Link Removed as well as a co-founder of Renaissance), guitarist Martin Pugh (from Steamhammer), and bassist Louis Cennamo (also formerly of Renaissance and Steamhammer).

This short lived band, which started as a studio project, put out one really good rock album in 1984 titled "Living In Fiction" and quickly disappeared. They should have had much bigger success.

Hmm, TD did quite well for themselves, regardless who was in there with Edgar, in the film soundtrack market. Even if they did slide into the 'new age' catagory, as many aging prog people did, the ensemble was still a going concern all the way up to Froese's illness and passing. They cranked out quite a number of titles.
My nomination is a trio that should be near and dear to all of our hearts, as the focal point of the band is a tour-de-force bassist, but the other two guys(of the original line-up)certainly held their own. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot of archival video; hell, they even got sampled by the Beastie Boys...ladies and gentlemen, Back Door(with Colin Hodgkinson)...

granted, this is not mainstream pop appeal stuff; the only other people I've encountered that were into this band were fusion, Zappa, Ornette Coleman and Henry Cow fans.
