At least you didn't say Joe Dart. While I think the guy is an amazing player and has some tasty tone, I hate the way the guy looks when he plays, all bobble headed and cocky. For some reason I just want to punch him.

Besides being a totally random and gratuitous comment, Joe doesn’t even play a P Bass but for a song here and there.

Interesting, as most of the vids I've watched (although limited) were him playing a p bass... I know he plays a sig MM, but I've seen far more of the vids of him on a P bass.

Regardless, my "random and gratuitous" comment wasn't aimed at a certain type of bass, as your trolling comment directs, but about how he looks when he plays. Sorry if you are a JD fanboy, and I ruffled your feathers. I've got nothing against the guy, I just can't stand to watch him play.

Not a fanboy or troll, just found it odd that you brought up a player nobody was talking about for the express purpose of bashing the way he looks when he plays. I guess we can agree to disagree about what trolling actually is.

How would we measure "Greatest"? Each of the choices listed could win the poll if the measure of greatness was defined.

Greatest in technical proficiency?
Greatest groove?
Greatest P player who is a lead singer?
Greatest session player?
etc. etc.

It's a fun post, but a bit like asking who is the greatest football player without naming a position, era, team, etc., I still had to vote Pino;)

I'll go with this as my favorite Fender Precision player:
