Guitar Center used site

*** Warning ***

GC has a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] for sale. It's a cool amp, they are asking $1700, which would be a great price if it was purchased/built by Trinity. This one was built by some guy that used their $800 kit.

If you trust someone's random build, this may be for you...

HEADS UP:
DO NOT buy this G&L L2K Tribute.

I returned it last night at the Orlando store because the truss rod is shot!
There is no tread at all in the truss rod, and it won't move, the bass is unplayable, their tech confirmed it.
I cannot believe these guys posting it for sale today!
They did the same thing with me and a G and L ASAT that I returned years ago. They took the return after fighting me on it and then put it right back on the wall to sell again. Unbelievable...

I think this is about half the usual used price at $199.99. It is likely 4 ohm (not 8 ohm as listed) with Eminance speaker.

Not my style but I was tempted to buy it anyway.

ValveTrain's site describes it as a 4 ohm cabinet. GC's description says 8 ohms. Lord knows what might be in there. ValveTrain 1x15 Bass Cabinet | 1x15 Bass Cabinet | ValveTrain Amplification

List price for a new one is $999.00!

I agree that it should be 4 ohm. Opening it up and checking what speaker is inside is a good idea.

Many GC 4 ohm cabinets are listed as 8 ohm. The GC photo of the back plate says 4 ohm and it’s listed as 8 ohm.

It may be a worthwhile risk for someone out there. Returns are easier than most places.

Returns typically shouldn't be a problem under that circumstance - including shipping charges - if the item is not as stated.
My local center has been very good, but the only thing I've returned was a Mesa Prodigy about 18 months ago.
The tubes were shot, and they were even willing to spring for a new set of tubes, but I had other concerns; noisy selector switch, and the potential need for further service.
They took it back, no problem at all.

Anyone ever received a used item that wasn’t in as good condition as stated on the site and were able to contact the store and get some money back?

Yes, I have. I received an amp that was broken (packed poorly). I called the 800 number and first had the shipping charge refunded (the store will rarely do that but historically the folks at the corporate number are eager to take care of you), then we talked about the damage and they gave me some money back.

Granted, this was a couple years ago and my last call to the 800 number connected me with someone offshore who was simply reading from a script. It's always worth a try though.

I ordered a new guitar (was a stupid deal of the day) and it shipped w/o a trem bar. I called and the guy on the phone said “let me see what it would cost for you to get one off of Amazon…. They are 6 bucks. How about I refund you 10 bucks?”. That worked for me!
