Guitar Center used site

Sorry to hear that. Personally, I've never had 1 single issue. I've purchased amps, drums, PA stuff, pedals.... never anything misrepresented or damaged on arrival. This includes tube amps. The only guitar I've ordered was new, so it was in factory packaging. I actually just this evening picked up a Squire Bronco for my son for $90 all in. We'll see how that arrives, but I have no reason to doubt it will arrive as described. Do you call and speak with a person, during store hours, and have them confirm the item is there, look for defects, try it out, etc? Hard to believe it has happened twice. I've probably ordered 20 different items from 15+ different stores in the past two years.

Both times I had ordered the item expecting it to ship the next day and instead of a shipment confirmed email I got an email that said item not currently in inventory. Probably just bad luck. The good thing about GC sending me broken stuff is that I can just return it to my local GC without having to ship it back to anyone.

Are you placing the order online? Easiest way to avoid paying for something they don't actually have is to call the store, have them physically confirm they still have it, then pay for it. Probably get it faster as well... they usually ship same day if you call early enough.

What usually happens with me, and it's been like 4 times over the past 6 years or so, is that the price drops or the item gets listed while no one is at the store, somewhere between 2 to (x-y)^2 people buy the same item and then when the first person opens the store they have to deal with it. I've been told I was the 6th person to buy a $250 Areodyne once. Their computer infrastructure is disturbingly horrible.

Maybe don't get so bent out of shape over used gear? As far as somebody else cares, it's junk, right, or it wouldn't be there. Frustrating, sure, but it isn't a unique piece either. Another one, or a suitable alternative is around. Yeah, sucks to miss a great deal, but don't trash a whole company over it. Like I stated earlier, I just call and speak to somebody AT THE STORE. Buy stuff at 2:00 AM online; caveat emptor, IMO.
I've been to the point I wanted to break stuff over eBay auctions, but it just isn't that big of a life altering event, y'know? So my life will carry on without that Xyzabc Model Qwerty rev 7. Sure would have been a buzz for that week or so after it got here... then put somewhere to collect dust or become just another link in the chain that gets taken for granted.

So true. Blessing and a curse. I did hear they're "upgrading" the entire computer system. Good or bad results is still TBD, but at least they're trying. I still prefer them for used gear over eBay, which I gave up on a long time ago. They really do have one heck of an inventory of stuff, taken as a whole.

They are heavy. The guy that plays for Mutemath played one last time I saw them, and he literally sat down on the floor while he played it. I've never seen another bass player do that, but I've also never seen another play a t40 on stage.

back in the Days of Trusses, when Mangs werz Mangs, I used to see guys playing these anvils all the time..mostly southern gents in bands with 9 guitar players doing harmonized leads in real time. They actually sounded pretty good, that is if you could HEAR one above the 9 guitar players. I made the mistake of picking one up once, and GEEBUS, my arm almost came off.

They came out when I was first starting to play in bands. Around here they were like the squier CV of the day, except only beginners seemed to buy them. They sounded great, I thought. If they had sold them for more, I wonder if it would have changed peavey's image a bit?
