GUITAR OVERDRIVE ON BASS ?

The Boss "bass" pedals aren't that great, either.

The Chorus on the bass is THINNER than the CE-2 (ask walbassplayer1, he'll tell you all about it.) And then the compressor does next to nothing for me. I'd rather use a rack compressor or the Boss Compression Sustainer for Guitar.

And some of they're newer pedals aren't so great either (Tr-2, cough cough.)

some BASS OverDrive that i've tried (as mentioned before) are SUCKS, one of them is BOSS ODB-3 (no offense)

I've tried IBANEZ TS9DX on HARTKE amp (don't know the type)

and it just don't get a "feel" out of it....

way too muddy, and it sounded like the speaker is about to break

(or maybe i just dont know how to set things right in that pedal)

Possibly. The Timmy influence in me is saying try to find a Marshall Guv'Nor Distortion on eBay, (Not the newer silver one, the older one that looks like a plate/ramp painted black with knobs and the Marshall logo on it.) There are a lot of people on here that have a lot of luck with it.

I'd say maybe go with a Boss Turbo Distortion or Mega Distortion (The fiery red one) if you like it, they seem nice to me.

I have a Boss MetalZone. I freakin love it. I stole it from my dad's huge array of pedals he does not use. It is nice because it has levels for bass, midrange, highs, volume and distortion level. You can ad some fuzz or crank it up and w. a envelope it completely destroys the signal.

Boss OC-2 -> Boss Metalzone = the bass sound from 311-Hydroponic.

People are having major problems with the new Marshall pedals with essential parts going out that can't be replaced (Such as the footswitch) and plus, the new Guv'nor isn't nearly as versatile as the old.

The old one had a low, mid, and high knob with gain and level and I think even drive.

The new one is basic: Level, Gain, Low, High.

You NEED that mid in there, because sometimes the mids make all the difference in a distortion.

so besides the low eq, the mid are important to shape the drive/dist.. thanks bro.

do you know the exact frequency (the freq that ussually applied) that the low, mid and high knob applies?
