Well that would simply be "woodchuck made", wouldn't it? No, you need a luthier with really strong nails to get things done right...

IMO, suffice to say that although not everyone loves these basses, Rodger is an awesome dude to work with. I was probably the biggest pain in the azz for him and Kevin. But in the end, they gave me everything that I wanted and more, including putting in pup's that they no longer use in their basses. Should I have not said about the pups Rodger? :hiding:

Cool! I've had 2 (different barrel lengths), and the 686 is almost impossible to miss with. I've shot alot of pistols, but the 686 was the only one that felt like an extension of my arm. I even had the rubber grips put on mine, like yours.

And now, back to our thread...

Had that exact model after lusting after one from reading Talkbass reviews/impressions. Took me months of savings, and yet when it arrived and I took it out of it's case (ie cardboard shipping container) it just wasn't 'my sound'. Don't want to knock it for guys who swear by it, but to me it just wasn't worth the money.

Now, I KNOW that the magic is in how it sits in the mix and all, but I just couldn't get past thinking that i had been cheated somehow. Like I was paying more for the name than for the quality of styrofoam workmanship. IMHO/YMMV of course.

DAMMIT!!!!!
Thought I was on to something....thank God that 686 that nostatic has holds 7 rounds. I have 4 woodchucks running around here playing the theme from Rawhide on the hand made "cup bass" that phillipkregg makes..

Which has me wondering....the cup says "Dixie" on the bottom????
So Phillipkregg, you only ASSEMBLE your cup bass???
A HA!!!! You're busted!!!

And I bet the tape is by 3M too!!!!! NOT extruded in-house by you!!!!:mad:

Yep, turns out he outsources for the cups. As I suspected: just another "parts bass"... :scowl:
