Has anyone bought and NOT liked a Sadowsky??

I'll give you a balanced answer ... (almost) yes & no

Last time I did extensive bass shopping (about 18 months' worth of testing) I tried a Sadowsky Metro M5 24 ... didn't like the neck, didn't really like the dual humbucker sound. For 5 string necks I prefer something much more like an Ibanez or Musicman. The Sadowsky was too wide and flat for my taste.

Having said that I then tried (and bought) a Metro MV4 which I love. So I have tried one and didn't like it and then bought one and loved it.

On the value for money point ... when I bought mine it was the best bang for your buck IMO. I'd played pretty much every 4 and 5 at the Bass Centre and the Gallery in the £1,000 - £1,500 range. It was about the same price as the Korean Lakland's and the construction was much better. (Met a bloke recently who owns a Lakland Darryl Jones who preferred my Metro!!!)

I've just check the place I bought it from and it's now about £300 more than a Warwick Dolphin, but TBH that doesn't surprise me. Warwick instruments are produced in much larger numbers so I would expect them to be cheaper.

IMO ... if you can get a Metro somewhere in the range of £1,500 - £1,700 (around US$2,500) then you have got yourself a great deal. I saw one go for not much over £1,000 recently (3 years old). I'm getting very tempted to buy another and string it B - D.

I switched to a mechanical pencil as I prefer a more modern tone.

That's not what she said last night! She said my extended length was much better, thank you!:bassist:

Long and thin get's it in, but girth brings mirth......tonally speaking of course.

Sadly, this thread won't get closed down unless someone says something exceedingly unpleasant and/or offensive. Like that Sadowsky basses are like Wishbasses compared to a Fodera, and EVERYONE KNOWS that Roger and Co only sit around and sip expensive $10 Caramel Macchiato espresso drinks and wait for their instruments to arrive from their TRUE source: rural Siberia, where CNC farms exist and where machines can be made to work for pennies a day. His profit margin has GOT be to like 1000%, and I do believe that the ONLY reason anyone plays his stuff is the suggestive mind control function built into his 'in stock' portion of his website.

I TRIED to order a custom Ritter with a 39 inch scale (anything less is for weak B string afficianodos ie 'gaywads') instead of this current PJ5 of mine, but when I went to click 'buy it now' on ebay, I just could NOT depress the mouse button. I threw up all over myself, entered a catatonic state, and was awakened at the hospital with a brand new Sadowsky bass, complete with a note that simply said ".....if you know what's good for ya". Because Roger's company is REALLY a front for the Jewish Mafia of Russia.

Weird right!?!!?

Do you think if this guy wrote "I don't like anything to do with CNC machines in regard to bass building..." I would have responded at all? Read again what he wrote. It's not about CNC, it's about tagging anyone who uses CNC as charging money for nothing and laughing their way to the bank. Sorry, that's what it was.

That's right... "anyone". Not just Roger. You seem to see that but see it as a direct slap at Roger anyway.
:hmm:

Again, I'm not saying "look at what he/she plays" as a reason to get one. I'm saying look at how well known and well used are Sadowsky instruments in the professional industry. They're the choice of so many top working bassists, probably for a good reason. Don't get one, that's OK, but consider the facts. And have some respect... that's good for anything in life.

Okay, if "look at what/who..." is not a reason to get one, look at them for what? To see how well known well and used the instruments are? The difference being?
:hmm:

I did my best trying to explain myself. Judging by your comments and the fact that I find you smart and sharp enough, I'm obviously doing something wrong...
