Having BassCliff Gig Report Withdrawals

Hi Chris,

Yeah, we could'a used a few of your brain cells. :D I hope you enjoy your trip!

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Thanks Cliff, what's not to like up here on Lake Superior. Well, there's a certain amount of work that goes into having a building/property that's 4 hours away but even a bad day of working here is better than a good day of "real" work at my job.

Thought I'd share this one. We arrived Friday night around 9pm and so far have had mid 90's for temps 3 days in a row, which is awesome when you're on the shores of the biggest freswater lake in the world. Love it here, and
keeping my end of the bargain up that I made with my father in law many years ago to keep this place in tip top shape for as long as I can. Closed out the night with a kayak ride around Pike's bay as the sun was setting, these are some of the best of times, even my grand-puppy was chilling in the early evening.

And this was us hanging around a campfire on the 4th, we can see the fireworks from Bayfield, Madeline Island and some random amateurs from here without leaving the comforts of our own yard.

Mrs WI Short Scaler, me, daughter and grandpuppy.

Yeah, who needs to hang out with a bunch of talking bass heads when you've got such an idyllic spot to spend time with family? I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend. I played two gigs over the weekend and will post them up soon. Now back to the grind.

Sorry I missed Thursday night. We were busy getting ready to head out on Friday to the Washington coast. Stayed at my brother and sister-in-laws place.

Nice relaxing time. Farthest we've been from our house in well over a year.

Glimpsed the ocean from the road. Didn't actually get to the beach, that would have required either a 3/4 mile drive, or 1000 foot walk from where we were staying. Way too far:).

Hi guys,

I'm so busy this week and next that I'm hoping to schedule another Zoom GTG on the 29th. I gotta tell ya, this working for a living is getting in the way of my fun. Our virtual hang may have to be more of a once-a-month thing now that everyone is getting busier. I miss you guys but I thank God that the panic and fear is finally starting to subside and the world is returning to normal. I was getting too used to sitting on my backside at home. Let's live life the way it was intended! :)

I hate when responsibilities get in the way of playin' bass. I just hate it.

Hello err'body!

I hate when responsibilities get in the way of playin' bass. I just hate it.

We missed you Robert. A bunch of us were able to get together this evening for a meeting of the Bassmigos, a.k.a. The He-Man Guitar Haters Club. ;)

We talked about all the gigs we've been playing. I shared some pictures of my summer visit to see my youngest granddaughters, Bill showed us his new bass, and we just had a jolly old time getting caught up. It's been a while since we've had a Zoom GTG. It was great to see you guys. We will do it again as soon as possible.

Looking good, guys!

Say gang!

It's been a minute or two since we've been able to get together. Arnie cancelled two of our gigs this week so I found my Thursday night open. I sent out the email invitations at the last minute and you guys came! I was so surprised! Cant you tell?

I forgot to take a picture before @/\/\3phist0 was called away but I did get to meet him IRL for the first time at The Ranch last week. Ray, I hope everything worked out up north, or will soon.

We talked about all the exciting things that have been happening in our lives, the gigs we're going to play, the gigs we've lost, all the pain, all the sorrow, all the joy, all the drama, all the pageantry, all the spectacle, and all the crap. There was some actual bass talk too, something about string spacing. I love that kind of talk.

It looks like we'll be able to get together next week too, if you guys are up for it. I will know early next week and then send out invitations. If anyone would like to join us, feel free to send an email address in a private message. Please don't send anybody else's email address, just your own. :p I hope to see you soon!

I didn't even see the emails until this AM, too late :(

Miss the insightful chats on these meetings. One thing I was doing last night was meeting with my older daughter who is doing a "graffiti" paint scheme on a Mustang body for me. Next project in the works. It was originally going to be both of my daughters but our youngest is so busy with school/work/clinicals that she had to bow out. I went home and sanded the headstock for the paint.

We have 7 gigs over the next month, very busy for us but should be fun. Good to get some in now since things aren't looking good for the fall/winter again

That's all the news I had anyway. Take care amigos!

I hate that I missed seeing the invite until the next morning!!!! I miss hanging with you crazy bass-heads!!! Look forward to the next one.

After Nate showed off Mrs. Kitsappbass's new acquisition we talked about strings, TI flats, and picks, felt picks, backwards picks, quarters, and gigs, or lack thereof, and opera, long operas, and other stuff related, or not related, to bass. We even saw @Thumpinshelton on stage wearing shorts! :jawdrop: And we saw an old country bass player wearing makeup! Dang! It was good to get together with all you knuckleheads. :D We'll do it again real soon. God bless you. Take care, be courteous, be kind, act justly, love mercy, walk humbly, fear not, stay free!

Looking good all, sorry to have missed it again. No end to what I need to do sometimes but being an "awesome dad" has it's responsibilities. :D

Rock on from a WI bass brother!
