heaviest band ever

:scowl: I really don't like crapping on peoples opinions on music. but exhibit A:
Absolutely /thread. The Locust makes Mushugga look like an R+B outfit, without resorting to the machoism prevelant in so much heavy music these days.
I REALLY hope you were joking.

Exhibit B: Why are people naming nu-metal and metalcore bands when you know that there are entire genres of music that are heavier and faster then they.

Not saying any of the bands named were bad, but at least try to keep to the OP. Since everyone named meshuggah and strapping young lad and Pantera and suffocation, im gonna drop ORIGIN, Soreption, and good old Cannibal Corpse (gotta stick to your roots). Keep this thread brutal please :bassist:

Heaviest? Mastodon throws it down right and proper..... But, of the 100's of bands I've seen perform live, I've *NEVER* seen anyone *MOVE* an audience like Flogging Molly. They're not a particularly heavy band in the "metal" sense of the word, but in terms of joyful noise and mayhem, they're untouchable.

i've been saying this since i saw them in 2004 ( ithink it was '04)
the guy who i was with was taken into A&E with kidney stones as a result :D
good times had by all

just to throw another option in here too

Someone beat me to Dillinger Escape Plan. That's stuff is a wall of hell coming at you. 43% Burnt. That is heavy.

And...

I can't believe NO ONE has mentioned this band...
Someone came close by naming Jesu on the list (same frontman)
But...

GODFLESH

Their bass tone is that akin to a building being demolished.

Exactly. I can only imagine it's just people who are still in a "bubblegum pop" phase of their life, who are recommending those lightweight teen angst bands; and people who wouldn't know a heavy bone-crushing groove if it sat on them, who are recommending artsy noise acts.

If you get a chance to see High on Fire live, do it. HEAVY. FAST. BRUTAL.
