I REALLY hope you were joking.Absolutely /thread. The Locust makes Mushugga look like an R+B outfit, without resorting to the machoism prevelant in so much heavy music these days.

Portal- -not that heavy but its a pinnacle in both race and culture.![]()
Heaviest? Mastodon throws it down right and proper..... But, of the 100's of bands I've seen perform live, I've *NEVER* seen anyone *MOVE* an audience like Flogging Molly. They're not a particularly heavy band in the "metal" sense of the word, but in terms of joyful noise and mayhem, they're untouchable.
Lots of newer heavy stuff in this thread, but as some others have mentioned, it doesn't get any more "old school" heavy than the original Black Sabbath lineup. In the early 70's, a live performance of Sweet Leaf could suck the breath out of you.

...I still stand by my nod to Corrupted though...
"There is no doom... Only Corrupted"
Kind Sir,
I see your Sweet Leaf, and raise you a Black Sabbath:
:scowl: I really don't like crapping on peoples opinions on music. but exhibit A: [the Locust] I REALLY hope you were joking.
Exhibit B: Why are people naming nu-metal and metalcore bands when you know that there are entire genres of music that are heavier and faster then they.
Not saying any of the bands named were bad...
