Dang, from the title of the post I was hoping the discussion would be more along the lines of how far should I drag the P bass behind my truck.

Thanks again for all the input! After 24 hours it looks like gold narrowly beats out tort! In the end I was torn between gold and rosewood but I managed to find a genuine anodized guard for about half the price of any rosewood option so I've got one on the way now! Pretty keen to see how it turns out. I'll post pictures here for anyone who is interested once it arrives in a week or two. If I ever get bored, there's plenty of very nice color combos I can try out later saved in this thread!

The anodized gold looks nice on it.
I had one at one time, but disliked the feel of it.
It was sorta like nails on a chalkboard to me.

For me, I own one in the same honey blonde color, the white pickguard is really nice but I've ordered a cheap China-made gold pearl one just to have something to swap to.

The anodized gold is out of question as is a hell of expensive. $50+ for a pickguard?!?
