More fueling of the counterfeit market from the good people of the USA...
Seriously, take it elsewhere. There is enough ignorance on TB as it is.
This may be the newest type of counterfeiting. Some of these Affinity basses can be picked up for $100 less than a VM. So, slap a Fender sticker on an Affinity and say it's a VM. There, you just made $100.What an odd post. Usually these "is this real of fake" posts involve a buyer who thinks the seller might be trying to pass off a cheap copy as a more expensive model. Here, the seller is being upfront about it being a cheap bass that has been made to look like (maybe not so successfully) an American Fender and the buyer thinks he is not being honest and that it might be a real Fender. Huh??
I think mojomike is right, though. That neck heel looks way too square for it to be a Squier. I have a old Japanese P copy (70's or 80s?) that has a neck like that but this looks new. Perhaps the seller is trying to pass off a super cheap bass as a much more expensive Squier. That would be a new twist on the traditional scam! What's next, fake SXs?
It seems to be a nice looking bass. If you like the way it sounds and plays and if the price reflects its pedigree, why not buy it?
When will we see this thread:
My Counterfeit Fender Plays Better Than Your MIA
I said it entirely joking, but you are right. It's just a matter of time before someone posts it, either trolling or seriously.Your wry suggestion for a thread title is potential gold for the observant troll. But your deeper point is also taken -- this thread title is inevitable in a non-ironic context. God save us then!

Amen --- we are doing good works here-- counterfeits are what they are-- I owned a Rolodex Watch from Mexico (made in China) hey for 15.00USD it was better looking than the timex or Casio calculator watch i was wearing at the time.
OP should just rally all nearby users and pay this guy a visit.
