High End Bass Recommendation

Do you guys put any credibility into companies that boast endorsee's? I think some players play instruments because they love them, but others play them for the money. I feel trying to decipher between the two helps decide the companies credibility and whom to purchase products from.

Pedulla or Rob Allen! particularly if you are considering fretless

So i thought of saving money to buy a 5 string "high-end" bass.

I am looking at:
Tom Clement
JC bass
CB Bass
Laurus Bass
MLB bass (prince model)
Ned Steinberger headless bass (the one he shows at Namm2012)
Alusonic
Brubaker
Status Bass

Not looking at:
any Improved "fender"
fodera
Spector
Wariwck

Anyone has other brand that can be recommended:hyper:?

Oops, i think i need to mention the reason why i dont want to include fodera to be in the list is because i would love to not spend more than 4k on the bass,

Thanks bass player 1960 is that your birth date because mine is 1961. I still have my 1975 P bass i bought from my money i saved from working at a car-wash. I really want to build a bass to my exact design, and I've only found 1 company that boasts of a true custom build

Here is a picture of my dream bass; Indian rosewood neck wood Ebony fret board high end hardware passive electronics Music man in the sweet spot super hot j bass up against the bridge. Hope you like it! I tried to implement their "Ansir Technology" angled neck. i played one of these at Bass player live in LA last year and dug the heck out of it!

You guys know your builders...This is harder (and funner) than I expected. I've put off doing a custom build for 20 years but the time is right. I'm hoping the new bass will take my playing to the next level!! I'm glad I joined this forum, thanks

I don't personally.

Sure, if you want to pay double. Sometimes the company pays bassists to play their instrument, which is basically tacked on to the price of our bass. This is often accompanied by increased demand for that brand, which can also bring the price up a bit.

One piece of gear on my bucket list is a harp guitar. Find a roughly equivalent who has a famous endorsee and one without. With an endorsee, you're likely to pay twice as much for roughly the same thing. No thanks.
