I saw that in Bing images, but why the nude scene if they couldn't air it or did I just miss it?
I have mixed emotions as the season moves along. I know the death of Ragnar is coming, and I'm not ready for it. Watching him crumble into a weak and worthless man is painful.
It doesn't help that I'm going back and watching seasons 1-3 again watching him rise to power, and all the great decisions he made along the way then.
I'm right in the midst of his showdown with Jarl Borg now. The next episode on my list is Blood Eagle. I know what happens, but it's still going to be a good episode.
It's cool also to re-watch and see how well the show is written. Earlier in season three, Jarl Borg goes to the Seer who tells him how an eagle will fly above him, which is normally a good thing, so Borg was all excited. Well, not in this case Jarl.

I've been thinking about Ragnar a lot lately too. I think you're right Mike; he's a goner soon, likely not too long after they get to England. That snake pit still awaits.
If I didn't like the character so much, and they way Fimmel plays him, I wouldn't care. It seems like the drugs (and whatever else happened during those missing years) really addled his senses. I've known a lot of addicts and even some of the long-clean ones are never "normal" again, just like Ragnar.

I do hope Ivar regains use of his legs, either by some 'mircale' induced by the gods, or something else. It bothers me that he was such a prominent figure in history, yet here we have him as a cripple. But they're certainly building him up to be a dynamic character, what with sexual frustrations and anti-Christian hatred, so I can't imagine the makers of the show will have him drag himself around forever.
I was trying to read up on the real Ivar Ragnarsson, but accounts are so conflicting it's difficult to figure out which is true & which is fable.
I agree that Ragnar has been seriously faltering, and Yidu certainly didn't do him any favors with the Betel nut(?) concoction.
I just watched the scenes from tonight's episode, and I see Ivar didn't die ... I thought he was a gonner the way last week left off.

The loose adaptation of generally accepted Viking history in this series so far leaves me hoping Ragnar returns to Kattegat after killing Aella to live out his days with his wife Lagertha at his side.

My sentiments as well, and I think that's what most viewers watching the series would hope to see. I still think by the way they were acting towards each other in the "Outsider" that there's an certain level of devotion when Ragnar told Lagertha that he regretted what happened between them in which she reciprocated.
That would make a great ending - for the characters, and for the audience.
What the heck Ragnar? Why in the thunder did you kill all of your own people? I get it, they only came with you for the money, but come on man.
That scene with Bjorn drowning Rollo. That totally reminded me of how Ragnar acted when he was younger. Interesting how the scene pans away with Rollo laughing on the floor while he's coughing up water. I wonder if him and Bjorn are scheming something.
The invasion of Kattegat was a letdown. They really built that up to be a battle.
Scenes from next week are good. I wonder what Aslaug is scheming herself rolling over like that.
What's the master plan Ragnar is talking about? He was a master of scheming as a younger King, and pulled off some good ones. I wonder if he has one more in him.

Yeah, she did call it off and make the comment 'these are my people', but it still felt weak from what I was expecting.
Then she has Ubbe and Sigurd cooped up in her shed back home. That's going to be fun when she lets them out and they find out what happened.
I'm not much of a fan of Sigurd, so it's OK by me if tragedy befalls him.

I think Ragnar believes that Ivar's cold-hearted nature is an asset, and it's why he was sure Ivar would have no problem executing their entire accompaniment.
He was right in that if they found all those Vikings out there, they'd get slaughtered. You'd think he'd at least give them a fighting chance though & just release them in the wilderness & go his own way.
Oh wait, they already blamed him for their problems, so they'd probably try and murder him if he suddenly changed his mind & told them to just try their best to get home.
